The stamen is the male reproductive organ of a flower.
Flowers adapted for wind pollination typically have reduced or absent petals and sepals and long, feathery stigmas that hang outside the flower to trap airborne pollen.
The inner whorl of the flower comprises the carpels, each usually consisting of an ovary in which are borne the ovules, and a stigma borne at the top of a slender stalk, or style.

Soundgarden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soundgarden was a seminal Seattle rock band instrumental in creating the sound that came to be called grunge.
The band toured with Guns N' Roses to support the album, and later released the video Motorvision which was filmed on that tour.
Cornell went on to make solo album Euphoria Morning and later formed the group Audioslave along with ex-members of Rage Against The Machine, while Cameron toured with Pearl Jam for their 1998 Yield Tour and subsequently joined the band as a permanent member.

 Soundgarden
Soundgarden's first full-length album may not exactly be defining of the 'grunge' movement the way that Badmotorfinger or Superunknown are, but there are certainly hints of it in the murky Sabbath and Zeppelin-inspired metal.
Soundgarden had already shown their braininess and quirkiness with the impressive Badmotorfinger, but this album really brought their eclectic style to the fore.
Soundgarden's final album is somewhat of a disappointment, suffering from the same thing that marred the last one - too much filler.

Soundgarden was one of the earliest examples of what came to be known as the Seattle soundÂ…a.k.a.
Finally, in 1989, Soundgarden was given their big chance with their major label debut Louder Than Love on A&M. It never became a huge hit (it peaked at #108), but it managed to earn a coveted Grammy nomination nonetheless.
Spawning two singles (of which both are still played on rock radio on a daily basis), the album also marked a change in the record company’s marketing strategy.

Seems like Soundgarden had SOME sence of humor to me, at least, as evident by the "665-667" (making fun of satanic bands putting "messages" in their songs), and the "Cover" of "One minute of Silence" (the "Heavy metal version" they say..)..
If you ask me, more albums like this should see radio time, cause there's so many albums out there that are way better than this,(not to dis this album, i like it a lot) and never see the light of day.
This is a very good uplifting album for when your down, cos chris cornell sounds more on the verge of suicide than you could ever be, and the sludgey grooves and beautiful guitars behind him make you feel good to be alive.

 Soundgarden Album Reviews
Of course, the album is far from perfect, as not every song here is top shelf and (as previously mentioned) the band fails to maintain their momentum for the duration of several songs.
Although this album is cleaner and less heavy than previous efforts, lyrics such as “only happy when you hurt” show that the band hasn’t softened up too much.
On the downside, this mellower, less edgy album underutilizes their greatest asset by not unleashing Cornell more, but there's still enough first rate stuff here that had the band left the lesser songs on the cutting room floor, they could’ve had another classic on their hands.

For an act that was one of the definitive album artists of the late '80s and '90s, Soundgarden was a surprisingly effective singles band.
Most of their peers wouldn't be well represented by a compilation that concentrated solely on singles, but Soundgarden are, because their singles do capture what they're all about.
Each single from every album -- from the 1987 debut EP Screaming Life through SST's Ultramega OK, to their four records for A&M -- is here, with the Down on the Upside outtake "Bleed Together" added as an enticement for collectors.

In a musical climate of cookie-cutter pop and flavour-less easy listening Soundgarden were one of the few bands of their time who were adept at writing obscure yet compelling lyrics.
Soundgarden used one of these tunings, dropped D tuning, heavily throughout their catalogue, a process Kim credits to Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi and Buzz Osbourne of the Melvins.
Soundgarden also composed and played in a number of other alternate tunings which were later used by contemporaries such as Alice In Chains, Helmet, Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Soundgarden combined the epic grandstanding of Led Zeppelin with the grunge buzz of Blue Cheer and the psychedelic undertones of the Butthole Surfers to create some of the definitive hard rock of the 1990s.
Seattle sludge slingers Soundgarden made a living out of cathartic, woe-is-me wailing (we're talking the banshee vocals of Chris Cornell and the crypt-creaking guitar of Kim Thayil), but this wallowing in grim depression ironically proved to be the band's most uplifting career effort.
When the reclusive Cornell ventures out of his shy-guy shell, it's typically via a primal scream of cathartic emotion--he might camp it up with a sophomoric "Spoon Man," but most of this vicious disc leaps straight for your jugular.

Matt Cameron is brilliant, as always; Hiro is a good bass player---not as good as his replacement, but he fits the early sludgier style.
Although Louder Than Love is technically not as great an album as Badmotorfinger or Superunknown (mainly due to the differences in prodution), it is nonetheless My Favorite Soundgarden album to listen to.
Surprisingly, the murkiness of the production doesn't detract from the band's overall sound.
Say what you like about Nirvana's "Bleach" (purchased by most people only in retrospect), but when Soundgarden released this, it was easily the Sleeper record of the year.

Soundgarden's first full-length release, 1988's ULTRAMEGA OK, showed that there was more than met the eye to this fast-rising Seattle quartet.

Grunge band formed '84 in Seattle WA by vocalist Chris Cornell, Kim Thail on guitar, Hiro Yamamoto on bass, Matt Cameron, drums.
Before Seattle became fashionable there was Soundgarden, and now that the grunge era is over they are still wearing flannel shirts, still playing hardcore/metal/punk, not so much feeling sorry for themselves but aware that, as Cornell put it, 'It's not [in] Beirut, but in the US [that] kids carry guns to school.
Cornell and Cameron also played on Temple Of The Dog '91, Cameron and Shepherd on Hater '93, both on A&M. Years after Kurt Cobain's suicide (see Nirvana) Cornell said, 'The grunge bands that were there at the beginning aren't fashionable any more, and that's great.

Part Black Sabbath/part Ramones, Soundgarden helped unite both punks and metalheads--one of the first alternative bands to do so.
Largely due to vocalist Chris Cornell's signature wail and guitarist Kim Thayil's thunderous riffs, the band gained a huge fanbase by the mid '90s.

This is Soundgarden, with its latest release, Superunknown

, yet another strong progression for the group.

The list of some of the albums the band has released goes something like this: the '87 release of Screamin' Life

EP and the '88 release of Fopp

, both of which are on Sub-Pop, were then followed with Ultramega OK

on SST Records, Flower

, Louder Than Love

on AandM, Badmotofinger

and the latest release, Superunknown

.

However, it may be hard for one to understand this with lyrics such as "Whatsoever I've feared has come to life/Whatsoever I've fought off, became my life," from "Fell on Black Days." Cornell accounts for this by saying he feels he is in a "darker frame of mind" more frequently than others.
