Hince is in the Philippines with a crew from Discovery Channel Canada to film a documentary on the bird life of the Philippines, home to almost 200 bird species unique to the islands.
They listened to the Cebu flowerpecker's songs all day -- similar to other flowerpeckers in the lowlands of the area -- but it wasn't until late afternoon that they finally caught sight of the bird.
The Cebu flowerpecker's shrinking habitat is at the center of Cebu National Park on Cebu island, yet the park is not protected from development -- the culprit of eroding vegetation in the park.

Much rarer than the Pale-billed, this flowerpecker is easily identified by its bill shape, reddish eyes and white tail tip.

Note that all above observations of flowerpeckers are just a fraction of all the flowerpeckers we have seen, but we were not able to identify, because these little birds stay high in the canopy and/or move about rapidly.
