Flumph - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Flumph is a type of pie, created by combining the most lifting and sweetest substances known to man. Many times comprised of marshmallow fluff, whipped cream, meringue, powdered sugar, and various other sugary substances.
Flumphs were first introduced in the Fiend Folio monster sourcebook for DandD 1st Edition, and were updated and much improved for DandD 2nd Edition rules in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Vol.
Flumph's favored class in the 3.x edition DandD, according to the adventure "box of flumph", is sorcerer.

The Flumph   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
The flumph 'flies' by sucking air into its mouth and expelling it through its underside.
It is manoeuverability class D. Normally the flumph repels an attack with a squirt of foul-smelling liquid; this can strike anyone within a 60 degree arc up to a range of 20' - any victim who fails his saving throw (versus poison) will flee in disgust.
The spikes collectively inflict 1-8 hit points of damage and the tentacles fill the wounds with an acid which does an additional 1-4 hit points of damage, the latter damage recurring for the next 2-8 round unless magical means are used to negate the acid (alchemists have so far failed to create an effective antidote).

 Flumph
A flumph is pure white in color with slightly darker tentacles.
The flumph hovers a few inches above the ground, or hangs motionless in reeds or similar concealment, hunting small creatures such as rats, frogs, and lizards.
If this fails, the flumph can rise to a height of 10 feet and drop onto an opponent, piercing it with its spikes and injecting its acid into the wounds.

The "flumph" is a monster monster found in the "Dungeons & Dragons Dungeons & Dragons" fantasy fantasy role-playing game role-playing game, largely considered to be the most ridiculous creature ever created for the "D&D" game.
A flumph resembles a tortoise tortoise-sized fleshy coin with tentacle-like legs, and if it is flipped onto its back it is completely helpless.
Flumphs are sentient sentient, and are (trivia trivia fans take note) the only Lawful Good Lawful Good creature in the original "Fiend Folio".

The flumph is a monster found in the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game, largely considered to be the most ridiculous creature ever created for the DandD game.
(Later versions reimagined the flumph as a kind of aerial jellyfish.) Flumphs were introduced in the Fiend Folio monster sourcebook for DandD 1st Edition, a book infamous for its many ill-conceived contents, and were (for some reason) converted for DandD 2nd Edition rules in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Vol.
If threatened by a larger creature, the flumph attempts to drive it away by squirting a foul-smelling liquid from an orifice along its equator.

And in hopes of losing their pursuers, they left the chime and the wand with the flumphs, who figured they could use them to do some nasty stuff to the devil in question.
The flumphs also offered to give the LG party members a temporary infusion (an extra effective level, basically), but the process takes several hours and the pursuit was closing in, so Beeel and Cambra missed out (at least for now).

I disagree the Fiend Folio and the Flumph are as good as they were today as they were back then.

A description and direct conversion of the Tirapheg from 1e Fiend Folio is here.
Yeah it's one of the 'ridiculous' monsters of the original Fiend Folio, right up there with the Flumph (though the Flumph gets more fans).
Synads were first described in Dragon Magazine as a preview to psionic PC races in the Expanded Psionics Handbook, they were recently reprinted Complete Psionic, and look like this.

Fiend Folio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Public reaction to the Fiend Folio was mixed, at best, with many gamers criticizing the new monsters as strange or useless.
(The flumph is often mentioned as both.) After two mostly-negative reviews were submitted to TSR's Dragon magazine (Greenwood 1981, Zumait 1981), the magazine's editors took the unusual step of allowing Turnbull to write a rebuttal (Turnbull 1981).
ADandD creator Gary Gygax even criticized the book's random encounter tables (Gygax 1982).
