Topic: Fluorine absorption test

Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Fluorine   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
Fluorine (from L. fluere, meaning "to flow"), is the chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol F and atomic number 9.
Fluorine in the form of fluorspar (calcium fluoride) was described in 1529 by Georgius Agricola for its use as a flux, which is a substance that is used to promote the fusion of metals or minerals.
When it is a free element, fluorine has a characteristic pungent odor that is detectable in concentrations as low as 20 nL/L. It is recommended that the maximum allowable concentration for a daily 8-hour time-weighted exposure is 1 and micro;L/L (part per million by volume (lower than, for example, hydrogen cyanide).

Oxygen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oxygen presents two absorption bands centered in the wavelengths 687 and 760 nanometers.
Some scientists have proposed to use the measurement of the radiance coming from vegetation canopies in those oxygen bands to characterize plant health status from a satellite platform.

Mineralogy - LoveToKnow 1911   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
An important character of transparent crystals is that of unequal absorption in different directions; so that light will, as a rule, be differently coloured according to the direction in which it has travelled through the crystal: this is known as dichroism or pleochroism (see Crystallography).
For example, calcite, with its three directions of perfect cleavage parallel to the faces of a rhombohedron, may always be readily distinguished from aragonite or quartz; or again, the perfect cubical cleavage of galena renders this mineral always easy of recognition.
With a little practice a fair idea of the hardness of a mineral may be obtained with the use of a knife or file, which will scratch all minerals with a hardness of 6 or less.

 Seeds of Cancer
If the process of extracting silica from fluorine were simple as suggested by researchers, phosphate fertilizer companies would have been producing HF for commercial purposes years ago.
Urine levels of fluorine in the sodium fluorosilicate group were close to three times those of the sodium fluoride group.
Almost no fluorine from the calcium fluoride was found in the urine of the calcium fluoride group.

Iron absorption is negatively affected when oxalic acid - found in spinach, Swiss chard, tea, coffee soy and some pulses.
Some research being conducted is to test the possibility of high iron stores in the body being responsible for an increased risk to chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease, through oxidative mechanisms.
Heme iron (present in red blood cells and muscles) found in meat, poultry and fish - is readily absorbed; Non-heme iron - with the absorption more influenced by other dietary factors, are present in cereals, fruits, grains, beans and vegetables.

 Apple Cider Vinegar Cures
Apple Cider Vinegar also breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight.
If you are going to try apple cider vinegar for allergies, or even to prevent sickness, we suggest you do an investigation of your own by buying a pH test kit at a local pharmacy, garden nursery, or even pool supply store.
You can use these kits or pH strips to test your urine to see if you are more alkaline or acid during an allergy attack, virus or bacterial infection.
