 Flushing Meadows: Part I
If we were to count how many ways we could have a flush, we would have two subcases to consider, whereas, if we were to count how many ways we do not have a flush, there is only one case.
As more cards from the flushing suit are amongst the 18 cards, there are more subcases to consider when counting the number of ways to have a flush.
Observe that if the semi-deal has 10 flushing cards in it, someone must have a flush because the 10 flushing cards, along with the remaining eight, are dealt to only nine players so at least one person gets two cards from the flushing suit.

Flushing Meadows-Corona Park was the site of two world’s fairs (1939-40, 1964-65) and houses the Unisphere, Shea Stadium, the New York Hall of Science, the Queens Zoo, and the National Tennis Center.
If New York wins the bid, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park would be shut down for three years for landscaping and renovations.
However, a group of citizens called the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Conservancy opposes the plan, since the renovations would reduce park access for local residents and potentially destroy the natural wetlands in the park.

The park’s two fresh water lakes were formed when construction of Robert Moses’ 1939 Worlds Fair diverted the Flushing River forming a series of dikes at the mouth of the river at the East River that blocked the natural flow of the Flushing and forced the river to form the lakes.

Of the approximately 1,000 species of wild plants within the city limits of New York exclusive of Staten Island, little less than one-third were noted in our trip to Corona and Flushing, by actual count 318.
If not completely destroyed, the colonies of plants that flourished during the Age of the Meadows, a long time ago (1936), now are reduced to a few stray ditch dwellers that are neighbors to the steam shovel.
Astoria still boasts many colonies of Allionia nyctaginea, but we failed to see this umbrellawort in Flushing; nor did we mourn the loss of Bassia hyssopifolia, since it is common in other regions.

In a low-limit game, this almost always means the early position player is on some kind of a draw and the late position player is trying to make her pay for drawing and hoping her hand holds up.
She knows, however, her hand is vulnerable to straights and flushes unless it improves.
If neither a straight nor a flush is possible following the deadly river card, and the first bettor checks, what should the second bettor do given her hand is unimproved?
