  Dinghy sailing
Dinghy sailing is the activity of sailing small boats by using the sails, adjustable centreboard, and tiller.
He developed and contributed to many dinghy classes which are still with us nearly a century later: the International 14, the Firefly, and the Flying Fifteen.
Sadly, the innovative technique was immediately banned, and received little development until it was reintroduced on the Flying Dutchman class in the early 1960s.

 Dinghy racing at AllExperts
Dinghy racing has been influential in developing all aspects of the modern dinghy, including hull design, sail materials and sailplan, and techniques such as planing and trapezing.
Sailing dinghies compete on an international, national, state, association, club and class basis, using the ISAF International Racing Rules of Sailing, which are revised every four years.
Sailing dinghies can be one-design, with virtually no difference between boats and strict rules controlling construction, or development classes like the International Moth which has gone from a wide-hulled scow, to a thin-hulled skiff and now to a hydrofoil-based design.

Dinghy sailing is gathering momentum, as the Sydney International Regatta on the harbour in December will attest, when more than 15 classes and 300 sailors from around the world will battle it out.
Such are the benefits of a stealthy sailing dinghy; you spot stuff that would otherwise pass by in a blur or dive out of sight.
But no dinghy is made for 30 knots, which strikes violently, putting the boat on its ear, forcing us to ease the sails that flap dramatically as though being slapped around the head.

 Sydney Flying Squadron
The two day regatta which is open to all skiff and dinghy classes will be hosted from the Sydney Flying Squadron’s club house at Milson’s Point in the heart of Sydney on the weekend of August 20th and 21st 2005.
The concept was inspired by the significant lack of organised dinghy regattas over winter in Sydney, and a need for skiffs to get some practice in before the regular season starts in the ensuing months.
Given the regatta is open from Sabots to 18 footers and every thing in between, each class who comes to the event will have opportunity to put their boats on display both in the park and on the water to attract more interest from juniors and other sailors.

The wooden dinghy possessed no creature comforts only the functional display of wood ribbing and a dozen and a half ropes and wires down the middle of a flat floor leading to the skipper's cockpit.
Instead, the duo sought perfection as attention was turned to the use of the dinghy's spinnaker which was raised from the front of the bow: presumably another technical advantage of the Dutchman as a spinnaker is deployed from the cockpit of a Flying Scott and other "A Fleet" racing boats.
The Dutchman threatened to roll over on occasion as Bob slid down from his counter balance position on the wet gunwale, but he remember how to control the jib from the fore position.

Marc LAURENT, 470 world champion in 1975 and selected for the Montreal Olympic Games, is responsible for the design and finishing of the EQUIPE dinghy, aided and abetted by members of the French national Flying Dutchman team.
The EQUIPE is a scaled-down version of the Flying Dutchman, the formula 1 of sailing, and is aimed principally at young regatta entrants.
With this in mind, the EQUIPE has two main faces: steady and simple to use for learners, but suitably sharp and speedy across the water for regattas.
