  Flying Tiger Line - Definition, explanation
Flying Tiger Line, also known as Flying Tigers, was the first scheduled cargo airline in the United States and a major military charter operator during the Cold War era for both cargo and personnel (the latter with leased aircraft).
Ten pilots from the Flying Tigers formed the Flying Tiger Line after returning to the United States in 1945, using a small fleet of Budd C-93 Conestoga freighters purchased as war surplus from the United States Navy.
During the Korean War, Flying Tiger aircraft were chartered to transport troops and supplies from the United States to Asia; Flying Tigers later received a cargo route award to Japan, China, and Southeast Asia.

In 1977 the circle-T tail logo was changed to the 'FLYING TIGERS' lettering but the circle-T logo was reinstated in 1987 on 747s (prior to the company being acquired by Federal Express).
It's main focus was cargo and the routes were expanded; Flying Tiger Line opened schedules from Los Angeles to Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.
Flying Tiger received more Boeing 747s and built up routes to South America and Australia.

 Flying Tiger Line
The Flying Tiger Line was started by Robert W. Prescott and a group of fellow Volunteer Pilots from the AVG, or the American Volunteer Group, also known as the Flying Tigers.
The aircraft was the first war surplus C-54 bought by Flying Tiger Line in the latter part of 1946, later converted to DC-4 in 1947.
In l950 we flew over to Bremen five airplanes to fly to Australia and had 90 Tigers to operate them; then we had other planes flying from Europe to other destinations during this same time; which was to the U.S. and Canada and Tel Aviv.
