 Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor
It resulted from discussions held by Dipl Ing Kurt Tank, technical director of Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau of Bremen, and the board of DLH (Deutsche Lufthansa), the state airline, in the spring of 1936.
The remaining six Fw 200C-0s were given the locally reinforced structure and simple armament comprising three 7.92 mm (0.31 in) MG 15 machine guns, one in a small (almost hemispherical) turret behind the flight deck, one in a rear dorsal cokcpit with a fold-over hood and the third fired from a rear ventral hatch.
Oddly, the Fw 200C-4 went back to the HDL 151 turret and MG 15s elsewhere except for the front of the gondola, which had the MG 131 or MG 151/20 depending on whether or not the Lofte 7D was fitted.

Redesignated the Fw 44 and given the name Stieglitz (Goldfinch), the new design was to become one of the first major successes for Focke-Wulf.
The Fw 44 also caught the attention of the German Luftwaffe, which ordered a large number of Goldfinches for service in its pilot schools, and these continued to serve in the training role until the end of the war in 1945.
Fw 44s were also flown in aerobatic competitions and displays by famed pilots Otto Graf, Emil Kopf and Ernst Udet.

Tank then started work on the design of the Fw 44, Focke Wulf's first commercially successful design, launched in 1934.
Before Focke Wulf, Tank was employed by Albatros Flugzeugwerke, but after their bankruptcy in 1929, the company was broken up with most of the designers going to Focke-Wulf and a few others going to Arado in 1931.
The Fw 190 Würger (butcher-bird), produced from 1939 to 1945, was a mainstay Luftwaffe single-seat fighter during World War II.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 Review by Jerry Crandall (Hasegawa 1/32)
They must plan to do an early 210 series D-9 or “Red 13” from JV 44, in a future release that requires this 5 piece cowling.
The canopy installation with its sliding rod into the track on the upper deck is also a nice touch, so it aligns itself automatically, therefore the modeler just has to decide in what position he chooses to place the canopy.
The gun cowling has the early 5 piece style gun cowl, but they instruct you to fill the panel lines as this cowling is not appropriate to any of the decals supplied with the kit.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-11 by Ingemar Caisander (Tamiya and Bob Stephenson Conversion 1/48)
Since Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 kit apparently would have pretty much fallen together on its own if built straight from-the-box (judged from earlier reviews of the kit) I decided to add a little challenge to the project by converting the aircraft into one of the late-war D-11 prototypes.
The D-11 variant of the venerable Focke-Wulf 190 was designed as a much-improved low-level interceptor fighter refinement of the "Langnasen Dora", incorporating many of the features found on the powerful Ta 152.
Based on rebuilt Fw 190A-8 airframes the D-11 mounted a new 35-litre Jumo 213F inverted V12 engine rated at 2060 hp for take-off.

Brazil, before political alignment with the USA, was granted manufacturing licences of Focke Wulf aircraft like the FW-44 Stieglitz and the FW-58 Weihe, which were being built in the Galeão plant, in Rio de Janeiro.
The Focke Wulf 58 Weihe (Kite) was an important plane of the Luftwaffe during WW II, seeing widespread use (by other countries too) in a variety of duties such as transport, liaison, training, ambulance, flight testing, patrol, attack and even crop dusting.
It is an airplane long awaited in 1/72 kit form, and now it is available thanks to this Comando 5 release, which brings us the "B" version (Brazilian-built planes were designated "Galeão D-2Fw").

Hondt was shot down and wounded while flying his heavily armed Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-5 "Swarze 13" on October 8, 1943.
The Werk-Nummer 410266 identifies Hondt's aircraft as a Fw 190A-5 but the underwing cannon are most likely a field addition of the Rustsatze 1 "kit" which gave the Fw 190 the massive total firepower of six 20mm MG 151 cannon plus its two MG 17 machine guns.
We believe the colorful Fw 190 flown by Lt. Hondt is often misidentified as a Fw 190A-5/U12 which according to most resources only two prototypes were built.
