Fw 200 Condor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Condor could also carry bombs or mines to be used against shipping and it was claimed that from June 1940 to February 1941 they sank 365,000 tons.
After late 1943 the Condor came to be used solely as a transport aircraft.
To adapt it for wartime, hard-points were added on the wings for bombs, the fuselage was extended and strengthened to create more space and front, aft and dorsal gun positions were added.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was a single-seater, single-engine fighter aircraft of the Luftwaffe, and one of the best fighters of its generation.
After the 'D' later variants of the 190 were named 'Ta' in honour of Focke-Wulf designer Kurt Tank.
The BMW 139 finally was canceled, and the Fw 190 employed the 14 cylinder BMW 801 instead.

A few Condors remained operational to the last days of the war, in the end mostly being converted and used as transports.

 Focke-Wulf 190
The Focke-Wulf 190 was designed by Kurt Tank, and was a nasty surprise to the RAF in September 1941.
The FW 190 was known as a "pilots airplane," meaning she was a sweet ship to fly, light and easy on the controls (unlike the Bf 109, which was a handful).
In all, nearly 20,000 FW 190 aircraft of all types were completed by the end of the war, and the type was used by the air forces of Turkey, France (as the NC 900), and various of Germany's allies as well as the Luftwaffe.

 Focke-Wulf Fw 190
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 served as single-seat fighter, ground-attack aircraft and even nightfighter between 1941 and 1945.
The Fw 190 had an excellently installed BMW 801Dg two-row radial engine, which was in excess since most German aircraft used in-line engines.
The Fw 190 first saw action against Spitfires of the RAF in spring 1941.

 Focke-Wulf Fw 190
The Focke Wulf company's initial responses (based on the DB 601 engine) drew little interest, but their designer Kurt Tank proposed to use the eighteen-cylinder, air-cooled, radial BMW 139 in a fighter.
They soon found out, as the FW 190 bested the Spitfire Mark V. However, the four 7.9mm machine guns were not adequate firepower; an upgrade to heavier armament had been planned as soon as the guns were available.
As with the Bf 109, subvariants and modifications to the Fw 190 were numerous and identifying all of them would require a level of detail beyond the scope of this web site.

Focke Wulf 190 - Great Planes - Flight Journal Magazine
The design of the Focke-Wulf 190 began in 1937 as a backup to the Messerschmitt 109 that had been selected as the standard German fighter.
Improved versions of the Fw 190 were tested with such features as cabin pressurization and a water/methanol injection that increased the normal 1,600hp of the engine to 2,100hp for brief periods.
Although it was designed as a fighter, the Fw 190 was readily adaptable to many other missions.

Designated Fw 190 officially but called Würger (Butcher Bird) in the field, the new design was the only German fighter of World War II that flew behind a radial engine.

The Focke-Wulf 190 was known as one of the best fighters during the Second World War.
Designed by Dr. Kurt Tank, the Fw 190 was built as a sturdy all-round fighter, rather than a lightweight interceptor; but the early Fw 190A's nevertheless proved clearly superior to the Spitfire Mk.V. The Fw 190 was a better fighter than the Bf 109, except at high altitude.

 Focke-Wulf Fw 187 Falcon
Remarks from Chris Pinn : "The Focke-Wulf 187 was originally designed as a single seat fighter along similar lines as aircraft such as the Westland Whirlwind.
As the Bf 110 had better performance as well as a rearward firing gun, production of the FW 187 was stopped after only three production aircraft had been built.
It was then modified to compete with the Messerschmitt Bf 110 by changing it to a two seat 'Zerstörer' configuration.
