Fond du Lac County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin.
The racial makeup of the county is 96.16% White, 0.90% Black or African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.84% from other races, and 0.82% from two or more races.
In the county, the population is spread out with 25.20% under the age of 18, 9.40% from 18 to 24, 28.70% from 25 to 44, 22.40% from 45 to 64, and 14.30% who are 65 years of age or older.

The eventual city of Fond du Lac, which historian Joseph Schafer refers to as "the first location to be exploited entirely for speculative purposes," was effectively created by James Duane Doty, the Wisconsin territory's premier speculator.
In far western Fond du Lac County, the population of Metomen, first settled in 1844, grew from 460 in 1847 to 720 by 1850 and 1617 by 1860.
By 1870, Fond du Lac was the state's second largest city, a major railroad hub, and the county was second only to Dane in wheat production.

Following the Indian treaties of 1829 and 1833, the federal land surveys of 1833, and the creation of the federal land office at Green Bay in 1834, government lands in Wisconsin south and east of the Fox and Wisconsin rivers were made available for public purchase at the price of $1.25 per acre.
The following land patent records for the townships of Fond du Lac County are compiled from the records in the Federal Bureau of Land Management database.
The 1862 county plat map credits Bruins with the latter, and the original handwriting on the patent document is, at least, ambiguous (note the Township number, which looks like "South" but is in fact "North").

In November, 1835, a number of prominent men of Green Bay associated themselves into a land company, for the purpose of buying and selling land at the head of Lake Winnebago, then in the county of Brown, Wisconsin Territory.
Articles of association were drawn up and signed by the parties interested and the organization became known as the Fond du Lac Company.

A Fond du Lac County teenager has become the second person in four years to contract rabies in Wisconsin, state health officials confirmed Wednesday.

That year, a 69-year-old Sauk County man died of rabies after being admitted to the hospital on Oct. 14 with complaints of headache and general discomfort.
