Foodservice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The foodservice industry is one of the largest employers in the United States.
The foodservice version is packaged in a much larger industrial size and often lacks the colorful label designs of the consumer version.
Foodservice sales to restaurants and institutions are estimated to be approximately $400 Billion, about equal with consumer sales of foods through grocery outlets.

Foodservice distributor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A foodservice distributor is a company that provides food and non-food products to restaurants, cafeterias, industrial caterers, and hospitals and nursing homes.
A foodservice distributor functions as an intermediary between food manufacturers and the foodservice operator (usually a chef, foodservice director, food and beverage manager, and independent food preparation businesses operator owners.) Foodservice distributors procure pallets and bulk inventory quantites that are broken down to case and sometimes unit quantities for the foodservice operator.
Foodservice distribution companies can range in size from a one-truck operation to massive corporations, such as SYSCO and U.S. Foodservice.

FPI - Foodservice & Packaging Institute, Inc. - Sanitation
The evidence is clear, and public-health officials and experts agree: single-use foodservice packaging is a safe, sanitary and sensible means of serving food and beverage, and tabletop items such as paper placemats and tray covers ensure that the eating surface is sanitary.
Foodservice managers should remind their customers that single-use foodservice packaging products are more than just a convenience.
Foodservice operations in long-term care facilities, restaurants, hospitals and lodging all showed a statistically significant difference between the samples that had placemats/tray covers when compared to samples that did not use this protective barrier.

RESEARCH QUESTION / CHALLENGE /GOAL: This study examines on-site foodservice managers' personal style to determine whether foodservice managers have a typical personal style, whether this group is different from other management populations, and whether foodservice managers' style indicators vary according to demographic variables such as gender and hierarchical rank within an organization.
On the basis of earlier research, this tendency toward sensing, thinking, and judging is typical of managers in general, which suggests foodservice managers may not be that different from their non-hospitality brethren.
The question, then, is whether the "typical" personal-style profile is appropriate for meeting the challenges of foodservice management in the 21st century.
