FoolyCooly, or FLCL, or Furi Kuri (フリクリ), is a unique series that combines many aspects of animation, an extensive soundtrack and some outstanding writing to make one of the most bizarre and hilarious anime ever created.
FoolyCooly: Addict is more than up to the task, primarily thanks to the great music provided by the Pillows, one of Japan's most enduring, and endearing, indie rock bands.
FoolyCooly: Addict features several songs that the Pillows re-recorded for the show, as well as some instrumental pieces they wrote for the score.
What FoolyCooly's soundtrack really excels at is distilling the series' personality: the show manages to cram growing up, first love, rock & roll, a gonzo sense of humor and battles with aliens and giant robots into six short, heavily surreal episodes.

FoolyCooly (aka, FLCL or Furi Kuri) is a new anime coming to Adult Swim on August 4 at midnight.
Adult Swim has been having a streak of bad anime with some stinkers like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Inuyasha, but FoolyCooly is by far the worst thing to air on Adult Swim yet.
The animation on FoolyCooly is, while not great, probably the best thing about this otherwise unreedeemable show.
The wish of anime music fans have come true...truely FoolyCooly, that is. The most whacked-out, talked-about, unpredictable anime series ever seen in anime fandom comes roaring back with a brand-new soundtrack release!
'CoolyFooly Original Soundtrack No.3' goes to show that anime fans don't need to wish upon a shooting star; they just ride on 'em, thanks to the series' oh-so cool and clever music.
Renowned for the wild, biting lyrics that personified their killer songs, 'the pillows' unfurl a new 17-track compilation, which includes full-length versions of their signature hit songs from the series and other unreleased tracks.
I had may mouth open the first few show's, and I thought it was funny as hell.
09-26-2004, 07:54 PM FoolyCooly or Furi Kuri or FLCL (depends on who you ask, and what country they're from ) was really a very good stream-of-consciousness anime that is very random until the last two episodes pull it all together.
If you've ever seen Evangelion you'll recognize some base similar character-types, but it's like Eva chars on crack without a hint of sanity in their life.

FoolyCooly's animation is some of the most beautiful and innovative I've seen.
While the usual array of gurning faces and wild, exaggerated movements is present, FLCL takes it one step further by suddenly placing the characters into a semi-animated and beautifully drawn manga comic, or flipping them quickly from smooth cel-shading to a comical Looney Tunes whirlwind of arms and legs.
While I'd recommend that any animation fan see FoolyCooly at least once, it's not something you'll necessarily want to own.

Foolycooly, pronounced “foo-ree coo-ree” in Japan, is a Japanese slang term for groping a woman’s breast.

Although it features more sunny, quirky rock from the mighty Pillows and more excerpts of Shinkichi Mitsumune's score, it also features several sketches that expand on what could have happened to the FoolyCooly characters after the series' six-episode story arc ended.
As expected, they're entirely in Japanese, but unfortunately for those not fluent in the language, no translations are provided in the album's liner notes (which say that translations will be posted on the label's website, www.geneonanimemusic.com, but they hadn't been by the album's release date).
And while the Pillows' contributions are still a lot of fun, they're not quite as gripping as the songs on the soundtrack's first volume.

Cowboy Bebop" and "Samurai Champloo", someone recommended checking out "FLCL" aka "FoolyCooly." If you enjoyed those previous titles, I would suggest steering clear of this particular anime.
