Alan Holder. Rethinking Meter: A New Approach to the Verse Line. 1995.
For example, the model of the foot Holder attacks, an arbitrary unit that crosses morpheme boundaries, word boundaries, and phrase boundaries with impunity, and has anywhere from zero to two or more stressed syllables, does seem to be motivated only by the need to have names for different verse-forms.
Holder actually refers to this model just as "the foot," or even as simply "meter," but I avoid this usage because both "foot" and "meter" mean something rather different in linguistics, and I believe the alternative usages are easier to defend.
In fact, he points out that the foot model has difficulties even for Classical poetry, which is presumably the source from which English adopted it.

Bob Tuley - Clean Your Mauser Boy
Rather than having hand-fit to the extreme degree as is required of a craftman producing a Mauser, the Springfield could be made much faster and by lesser trained assembly-line workers by leaving the final tuning to the foot soldier, which history has proven served us well.
Foot soldier against foot soldier Americans had the edge later on WWII.

Mohawk Iroquois Longhouse - Building a Model
One common scale for such model buildings is the "dollhouse" scale, one inch = one foot, or 1:12; a model of a 200-foot-long structure would be 200 inches long.
Building a model or a full sized structure requires plans, a list of materials, and a set of procedures to follow in construction.
If plans for a building were drawn at the scale of 1 inch = 4 feet, that means, for example, that a post shown to be one-inch long on the drawing would be 4 feet (48 inches) long in the building.

One reason he doesn't like the foot is that it is arbitrary: foot boundaries, at least as they have traditionally been applied, do not correspond to any intuitive division of language into units of sound or sense.

Car and Driver Magazine - Ford Mustang V-6 - February 2005
V-6 model are 0.9 inch smaller than the V-8's, and the suspension is slightly softer, these tires account for most of the V-6's poorer perfomance versus the 10Best-winning GT model's 170-foot 70-to-0-mph braking distance and 0.89 g of lateral grip.
To ensure the V-6 model wasn't too much of a performer, Ford fit it with low-end P215/65R-16 BFGoodrich Traction T/A tires, which provide explanations for an unimpressive 189-foot stop from 70 mph and a 0.79-g skidpad effort.
Ours was a Premium model, which adds $585 to the sticker for a power driver's seat, an in-dash six-CD changer, and chrome spinners on the wheels.

The model had to be light for its size.
For this test the model had to be dynamically scaled.

flat foot - Hutchinson encyclopedia article about flat foot
His flat foot crashed over the keyhole, the lock gave, the door flew open, and in the sudden draught the landing gas heeled over like a cobble in a squall; as the flame righted itself I saw a fixed bath, two bath-towels knotted together--an open window--a cowering figure--and Raffles struck aghast on the threshold.
Treatment is best directed to flat foot which gives symptoms, or which is associated with abnormality of nerve, muscle, or bone.
No treatment is required, and modifications to footwear do not alter the shape of the foot.

Scale model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Model figure scales are usually expressed as the height of a six-foot (1.83 m) figure; for example: 54 mm.
Scale models are also built or collected as a hobby: aircraft; cars; vehicles; figures; matchstick models; military vehicles; railways; rockets; and ships.
Model railways have the additional difficulty of having to present the rail gauge as a simple number, the height of a person being secondary.

 Musclecarclub.com - Ford Model T
For $825, a Model T customer could take home a car that was light, at about 1,200 pounds; relatively powerful, with a four-cylinder, twenty horsepower engine, and fairly easy to drive, with a two-speed, foot-controlled "planetary" transmission.
When the last Model T rolled off the assembly line, it was not the end of an era, it was still the very dawn of the one that the little car had inaugurated.
Sales of the "Tin Lizzie," or "flivver," as the T was known, were boosted by promotional activities ranging from a black-tie "Ford Clinic" in New York, where a team of mechanics showcased the car, to Model T rodeos out west, in which cowboys riding in Fords tried to rope calves.

DIMACS International Conference on Computational and Mathematical Epidemiology
Models for the Transmission of Cultural Traits and Their Impact on Cultural Norms: The Case of Terrorists Carlos Castillo-Chavez Cornell University Epidemiological approaches are used to model the impact of peer pressure on individual behavior at the population level.
Such modeling highlights the importance of variables such as the number of personnel available for contact tracing and vaccination, the rates with which the population can be vaccinated, and the accuracy of contact tracing in addition to standard epidemiological parameters such as the reproductive rate of infection and disease progression rates.
The first model is a risk-benefit model analyzing the value of pre-exposure smallpox vaccinations, the second model examines the economics of quarantine, and the third model examines the optimization of logistics to maximize the number of persons giving pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis.

"A Geometric Model for Active Contours in Image Processing" Citations
The proposed modeling scheme consists of representing shapes by pedal curves and surfaces-pedal curves/surfaces are the loci of the foot of perpendiculars to the tangents of a fixed curve/surface from a fixed point called the pedal point.
The resulting active contour model, in contrast to many other edge and region based models, is fully global in that the evolution of each curve depends at all times upon every pixel in the image and is directly coupled to the evolution of every other curve regardless of their mutual proximity.
In this new modeling scheme, object shapes are represented using a parameterized function-called the generator-which accounts for the global shape of an object and the pedal curve (surface) of this global shape with respect to a geometric snake to represent any local detail.

 To Wash and Be Washed
It points to the need to wash the feet of others – to live a life of servanthood based upon Jesus&; model – as well as the need to be washed oneself by the salvific work of Jesus upon the cross.
Others view it in a non-sacramental manner, but still distinguish between "bathing" and "washing" in that "the disciples, already cleansed by their fellowship with Christ, need only to have their slighter faults removed." 19 Hence, foot-washing in this sense refers not to the initial bath but a second cleansing.
7 In the action of washing the feet of his disciples, Jesus is drawing a connection to his imminent death and resurrection; he is interpreting his death and its significance through the action of foot-washing.
