The League Cup was established in 1960 and is open to all Football League and FA Premier League clubs, with the winner eligible to participate in the UEFA Cup.
The Third Divisions were expanded to 24 clubs each in 1950, bringing the total number of League clubs to 92, and in 1958 the decision was made to end the regionalisation of the Third Divisions and reorganise the clubs into a new nationwide Third Division and Fourth Division.
In 1920 the Football League admitted the clubs from the first division of the Southern League (the Southern League continued with its remaining clubs) and Grimsby Town, who had failed to be re-elected to the Second Division the season before and been replaced by Cardiff City (of the Southern League).

In 2004-05, the Football League Championship had a total attendence of 9.8 million, which was the fourth highest total attendence for a European football division, behind the FA Premier League (12.88m), Spain's Primera división (11.57m) and Germany's Bundesliga (10.92m), but beating Italy's Serie A (9.77m) and France's Ligue 1 (8.17m).

The Football League Fourth Division or Division Four of The Football League was the fourth-highest division in the English football league system from the 1958-59 season until the creation of the FA Premier League prior to the 1992-93 season.
Further changes in 2004 meant that this level of the football league system was renamed Football League Two.
The Fourth Division was created in 1958 so that Third Division North and Third Division South could be merged, with the 12 best teams of each league going into the Third Division and the rest being put into the Fourth.

The Anglican team from Christ Church Parish of Arusha has emerged the overall winner of this year’s district league with 10 points and 12 scores having played five matches, winning three.
Both teams have been graduated to now play in the third division Regional League later this year.

The Athenian League was an England amateur football (soccer) league in and around London.
The league was formed in 1912 with nine clubs, but had to close down in 1914 due to the onset of World War I. When it reformed in 1920, only three of the previous teams rejoined.
Clubs left and joined the league at a rate of about one a year, with a number leaving to join the Isthmian League, the strongest amateur league in the London area.
