Force play - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In baseball, a force is a situation when a baserunner is compelled (or forced) to vacate his time-of-pitch base--and thus try to advance to the next base--because the batter became a runner.
A forced runner also may be tagged out in the usual fashion as well; such a tag is still considered a force play if the tag is made before the runner reaches his force base.
This is a force out because the runner was out for failing to touch a base to which he was forced; this force out is the third out and thus the run does not score.

Force out - BR Bullpen   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
A force out (aka force play) is made when a baserunner is forced to leave his base when the batter becomes a baserunner himself, and a fielder successfully tags the next base before the runner can reach it.
No run can score on a play in which the final out of the inning is recorded on a force out, even if the runner crossed the plate before the final out was recorded.
Had the first baseman thrown to second and the ball then had been returned to first, the play at second was a force out, making two outs, and the return throw to first ahead of the runner would have made three outs.

 force out
As soon as a force out is performed on one of the bases this action "sets the next base free".
Example: with a runner on first base, with a ball on the ground picked up by the defense, in order to perform the double play, there is only a need to first touch (in possession of the ball) second base and then first base, before the runners' arrival, and the double play is done.
If the defense touches first base first, it would "set second base free" from the force out and to take the runner out, he must be touched or tagged (before his arrival on the base) and not the base.

Baseball and softball running, force out, and tag out
When the batter-runner is not at risk of making an out, any runners that he forces to move are also not at risk.
Note that there may be one or two runners who are not forced to do anything when a batter-runner is forced to go to a base, simply because no other runner is being forced to occupy those runners’ bases.
If he is forced to run to a certain base, a defensive player in possession of the baseball can simply make contact with that base with any part of his body, usually his foot.

Since the Force affects and is affected by all living things, then it's not even just the Force-sensitives that have an impact on it's balance.
The Sith, however, in their lust for greater power, constantly evolved, adapted, and eventually understood the modern world so well that they were able to orchestrate their elaborate, decades-long plan for obtaining total control over everything by manipulating both the Senate and the Jedi.
Having said all of this, it's my take that the imbalance in the Force came not necessarily from the Sith's rise to power, but rather from the bloated nature of the Republic, and the Jedi allowing their role in galactic affairs to stagnate.

 Force-out Consulting
When owners of a company, joint venture or property decide to sell out to each other, they frequently use a process wherein one owner picks a price and the other owner decides whether to buy or to sell at that price.
In its simplest form, the process is an adult version of two children splitting a glass of lemonade – one pours, and the other chooses.
For example, the joint owner of a privately held Pennsylvania manufacturing firm recently bought out his partner for $1.3 million less than the client’s initial valuation of the company ($3.5 million – a 37% discount).
