FM 3-100 Chptr 9 - Force Projection Operations
Force projection operations often overlap in space and time and are not distinct, requiring commanders and units to deal with them simultaneously and/or sequentially.
Force projection operations seldom begin with a clear identification of what the entire force package will be, or even with the ultimate purpose clearly in focus.
In a combat situation early entry forces may initially be outnumbered, requiring them to task organize and echelon to arrive in the area of operation sin a sequence appropriate to the combat situation.

 CHAPTER 3
Force projection is the ability to project the military element of national power from CONUS or another theater in response to requirements for military operations.
Deployment is the component of force projection that focuses on the relocation of forces and materiel to the desired area of operation.
For force projection operations the Army must be capable of executing any combinations of strategic deployments including movement from CONUS to a theater of operation, movement from one unified command to another unified command, intertheater deployments between theaters of operation within the same area of responsibility (AOR), and movements within CONUS.

Force powers - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki - A Wikia wiki   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Force powers were the manifestations of a Jedi, Sith, or other Force-adept's connection with the Force.
According to the theory that the Force is one, the light and dark powers did not actually describe the Force, but rather, defined how an individual used it; whether to directly harm his enemies, or help himself overcome situations.
Force powers became evil only when used for personal gain, or to impede another; however, continuous use of dark powers was shown to have a corrupting effect on the Force-user, regardless of intent, due to the body being unable to handle such power for long periods of time.

Chapter 5. Into the 21st Century
Force XXI, begun in 1992, is the Army's comprehensive process for modernizing and preparing for the challenges of the 21st century.
Simply stated, Force XXI projects our quality soldiers into the 21st century and provides them the right doctrine and organizations, the most realistic training, an adequate and predictable sustainment package during both peace and war, and the best equipment and weapons systems that the nation can provide.
Force XXI seeks to exploit revolutionary changes in technology to mitigate the effects of reductions in military funding and endstrength and to provide a quantum leap in capabilities.

To achieve rapid force closure, the Army Reserve is refocusing its efforts and reorganizing its structure to meet the challenges that Force XXI will pose.

Overall defense spending is projected to be 3.4% of GNP in 2004; our Army hasn’t grown appreciably in response to the war on terror; and our Navy has actually continued to shrink.

Power projection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Assets for power projection can often serve dual uses, as the deployment of various countries' militaries during the humanitarian response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake illustrates.

 Force and violence
I agree with you that the word "violence" connotes the private, irrational use of force, rather than the legitimate use of force for the defense of society.
The use of that “violence,” that excessive force, paradoxically had a civilizing effect for me personally in the world that I was required to traverse everyday.
Force, or the projection of force, is all well and good, and it can work in many situations, but not in every situation.

Force Projection Modeling A few years ago, MTMCTEA analysts and simulation developers sat down and determined what kinds of modeling and simulation tools MTMCTEA and its customers needed in the area of force projection.
FPM is a suite of existing and new deployment modeling and simulation tools that planners and analysts can use to evaluate the force projection of units (personnel, equipment, and supplies) from their base or installation, to the port of embarkation (POE), through the port of debarkation (POD), to the tactical assembly area in theater.
Time-Phased Force Deployment Data One of the primary functions of FPM is to help analyze the transportation feasibility of the time-phased force deployment data (TPFDD).

Normal force - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If an object hits the surface with some speed, the normal force provides for a rapid deceleration, depending on how flexible the floor/wall is (and, of course, if it can provide enough force for braking instead of breaking).
In general, the magnitude of the normal force is the projection of the surface traction, T, in the normal direction, n, and so the normal force vector can be found by scaling the normal direction by that force.
In a simple case such as a 40 kg object resting upon a table, the normal force on the object is equal but in opposite direction to the gravitational force applied on the object i.e.

On the jedi side it forces the stronger team members to defend the weaker team members, though allow in return having greater numbers in a fight, this promotes team work and a sense of companionship you would find in a real jedi academy.
It is also logical for the sith side too, because it keeps the weaker apprentices from challengeing the master, ussually leaving only the most powerful dark jedi apprentice to have a chance against his master.
Apprentices should only use force powers appropriate to their side, though if they are low enough on the ranking scale choosing both light and darkside powers is alright, it just show indecision on the part of that apprentice to which side of the force they wish to belong to.
