Increasingly, Ford Motor Company has looked to Ford of Europe for its 'world cars', such as the Mondeo, Focus, and Fiesta, although sales of European-sourced Fords in the US have been disappointing, and in Asia, models from Europe are not as competitively priced as Japanese-built rivals, nor are they perceived as reliable.
Ford's presence in Asia has traditionally been much smaller, but with the acquisition of a stake in Japanese manufacturer Mazda, in 1979, Ford began selling Mazda's Familia and Capella (also known as the 323 and 626) as the Ford Laser and Telstar.
Ford was also one of the first top industry executives to make regular use of an electric vehicle, a Ford Ranger EV, while the company contracted with the U. Postal Service for delivery of a large number of electric postal vans based on the Ranger EV platform.

 Ford Prefect History
These cars have come to be known as the "Upright Fords" due to their obvious looks, rather tall and narrow, or upright.
Ford countered by stripping most of the already few features from the old upright Anglia and redesignating it the Popular, at a price well below anything else on the market.
Ford did, however, continue to build the 100E Prefect with the new 105E engine for a short time.

Ford Motor Company of Dagenham designed the 10hp 7W car for launch in March 1937, of a style and design which to which the new motor user was to become very attached, and where Ford parted from vehicle model designation of identifying letters and numbers to name it the 'Prefect'.
Ford replaced it with the Ford 100E Prefect at the end of 1953, but the success of the 10hp Ford Prefect E93A and E493A together with the export variants achieved a production build of 320,336 units.
The fledgling motoring public took the Ford Prefect to heart, the cars served well, enabling those days of 'happy motoring' to be enjoyed by the masses, a true family car, one of the Ford family.

A look at English Ford front grilles
Otherwise, the only other time Ford used this 3-hole grille, was on the 1938-1939 model Ford Ten, or sometimes called the 7W.
And that is the one-hole grille, which was used on the Ford Eight (both the sedan and the 1/4-ton van), during 1938-1939, and is sometimes called a 7Y grille.
Like the 3-slotted grille, you will sometimes see this grille on 1948-1953 body style cars and trucks, but technically, this grille is way too early to be used on any sedan that came from the factory with a "hump" on the rear trunk.

In Japan, a vehicle called the Ford Festiva was sold from the mid-'80s to the early 1990's, identical in appearance to the Festivas in the rest of the world, but was built by Mazda instead of Kia, and is a rebadged version of the 121.
Following Ford's divestment from Kia, the model was discontinued in 1999.
This caused considerable problems for Ford Australia, as it did not have a model to compete in the growing small car market, until the launch of the current Fiesta, sourced from Europe.
