		To understand how Ford Motor Company is going to turn the platform of the Mazda 6 midsize sedan into a bunch of new models bearing Ford, Mercury and Lincoln nameplates, the Dearborn-based automaker suggests you think of a Rubik's Cube.
		Ford seems destined to fall somewhere in between these two extremes with its CD3 platform, since it does not have the flexibility of a GM architecture and is not supposed to have the sameness of European-market VW products, or so it promises.
		However, the CD3 platform serves the company, Ford is lucky to have it at all, since it's going to allow it to build new products for a fraction of what it would have cost the carmaker under the old system.
