Ford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois.
In the county the population was spread out with 25.80% under the age of 18, 6.90% from 18 to 24, 26.40% from 25 to 44, 21.50% from 45 to 64, and 19.40% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $38,073, and the median income for a family was $44,947.

Ford County, located in east central Illinois, has the distinction of being the youngest county in the state.
Ford County is shaped like an inverted capital T and the northern part is known as the "panhandle." There are 45 other counties in Illinois having a smaller land area than Ford County.
Ford County's most distinguished citizen, Congressman Leslie C. Arends of Melvin, was honored for his 40 years of service to our nation when President Gerald Ford arrived on October 24, 1974.

A study of the map of Ford County shows that it is the dividing line between the wares which flow in to the Illinois River toward the northwest, and those flowing into the Wabash to the southeast.
When the Illinois Central Railroad was surveyed from Chicago to Cairo, it was found that the highest point in its survey lay in Patton Township; also that from Lake Michigan to the Ohio river on another line the highest place is said to be near Sibley.
The fact that there was a large county debt, and that two-thirds of the voters of the county lived in the eastern half of the county were factors in our favor.
