In the late nineties, Ford HQ decided that they were going to lay the demons of some really bad cars to rest by building some new sexy ones.
The only car within feet of the Puma's remit was the aging Tigra, a car so cheaply based on the Corsa that even Opel salesmen were at a loss to explain anyone who would pay the premium.
The premature death of one of the best cars Ford has built for some time can be partly attributed to the phasing out of the Fiesta platform it was based on, despite the fact that the Ka hangs on to this day with the same underpinnings.

The Puma has the transponder type immobiliser in the key which will not allow the engine to run unless the correct coded key is used.

Ford are so incompetent, they managed to spill one litre of my GTX Magnatec oil all over the front seats (which ruined the interior).
Firstly, if 'other puma owners' have all these problems then it wouldn't be deemed the fantastic lower value sports car that it is. It wouldn't have just about every car magazine recommending it for its drive over its practicality.

I know Ford Australia is targeting the Focus and all it's variants for that segment of the market, and hopefully also the Fiesta for the baby-car market, but I was wondering if the Puma was a viable option as well.
In a country where Fords such as the Focus on all it's guises, the Mondeo, the Cougar, the Galaxy (MPV - why are they doing a Focus MPV when this model already exists?) and the Fiesta are quite prevalent, the gorgeous Puma is also a common sight on UK roads.
IMO though, ford aus should concentrate on their bread and butter models for a while, untill they bring up their market share and public opinions a bit.
