		When the required 5000 examples of the three door Sierra RS Cosworth was produced Ford felt that they needed a car with the same amount of power but with more comfort and ability to carry the family too.
		Ford knew they had a great engine in the YBG that sat in the the Sierra Saphire, so Ford's master plan was to simply put the engine, drivetrain and suspension of the Sierra Saphire 4wd into a modified and strengthened Escort shell.
		But, to Ford's dismay I suppose, it was simply not possible so a new chassis and body had to be built specifically for the Escort RS Cosworth.

		The Sierra was Ford's answer to the similar-sized Vauxhall Cavalier, which had been launched a year earlier with front-wheel drive and a hatchback bodystyle.
		The Ford Cortina had only come in saloon and estate bodystyles but after the switch to the Sierra, combined with the redesign of the Ford Escort to Mark III level in 1980, and the introduction of the Ford Granada Mark III in 1985, Ford had changed its saloon-based line-up into a hatchback-based one.
		Ford found that customers were more attached to the idea of a saloon than they had expected, and this was further addressed in 1987 by the saloon version of the Sierra.

		Ford Sierra is an automobile from Ford in Europe.
		In 1987, the Sierra was restyled, and a sedan version was introduced, known in the UK and other right hand drive markets as the 'Ford Sierra Sapphire', although in South Africa it was known simply as the 'Ford Sapphire'.

		Ford has finally admitted there is a severe problem with their cruise control units following a large number of under-the-hood fires.
		Ford's instructions to mechanics at this time are to simply disable the cruise control.
		The result of which is that Ford is going to leave thousands of defective cruise control modules in circulation until the evidence of fire hazard is undeniable.
