Moonlight, Foreigner is going stronger than ever, despite a life threatening illness that afflicted singer Lou Gramm a day before the band was leaving for its 1997 tour of Japan.
The meeting two regroup came about as the result of an effort by Atlantic Records, Foreigner's then-label, who were eager to see the two main members of the group reunite when a European release of their greatest hits sold nearly 700,000 copies in 1991.
Moonlight, the band's first album reuniting guitarist Mick Jones and vocalist Lou Gramm since 1987, Foreigner kicked into the Nineties with unleashed abandon and ferocity-- and what may well be their strongest album ever in a long line of multi-platinum smashes.

Foreigner remained a popular concert attraction, but the band's future was thrust into doubt in 1997 when Gramm was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Foreigner the group was formed by Mick Jones, who had already composed many of the album’s songs, and comprised recognised musicians and members of lesser-known bands, most notably Lou Gramm, who provides the distinct and timeless vocal lead.
Journey and Boston were both influential in creating the Foreigner style and one can hear obvious similarities, especially where the former is concerned given both Steve Perry and Gramm’s standout vocal talents.
‘Foreigner’ is an outstanding DVD-Audio disc; both the two-channel and multi-channel mixes represent remarkable feats of restoration and creativity, while the supplementary material is in its own right worthy of any serious collection.

 DVD-Audio Review: Foreigner - ‘4’
Foreigner ‘4’ is an album I know and love, partly because I’m a closet fan of the musical style — that powerful guitar-driven 80’s rock — and partly because I’ve been a Foreigner follower since the late 70’s.
Foreigner’s first release is also reviewed on this site, [here] but as much as I enjoyed that album both now and back in 1977, it is the later Foreigner albums that really blow my skirt up.
Work began on the album in late 1980 with the original six-man Foreigner line-up, but after much in-fighting as a result of Al Greenwood and Ian McDonald’s desire for increased writing/producing exposure, Mick Jones, the band’s founder, decided to reduce Foreigner to a four-piece, letting Greenwood and McDonald go their separate ways.

Re Foreigner as a "party hearty" band, they don't even come close to matching the tour antics/escapades of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, etc. Mick and Lou have had their share of "excesses" (as revealed in last year's VH1 BTM special) and failed marriages over the years.
If Foreigner was such a "party hearty" band in the 70's they certainly did an excellent job of keeping it all low-profile.
Some of their songs, like Hot Blooded implied that they were doing the things that most bands on the road do, but you gotta admit that you didn't hear about it thru the news or the musical grapevine.

C.J. Cherryh's Foreigner is subtitled "A novel of first contact." Humans have lived alongside the Atevi for centuries (involuntarily, after their ship went astray), and they're still at the first-contact stage, trying to understand them.
Her Chanur novels, for example, are set in a Compact of space-faring species, some of which can barely communicate with others, and they combine interesting stories with thought-provoking backgrounds.
In Foreigner, Cherryh focuses upon the problem of understanding the alien at the expense of the story, and it doesn't work very well.
