The team of forensic experts shall ensure that a certificate of good health is issued by a certified doctor, stating that the expert is fit to travel and has the required inoculations for the country or countries to which he/she travels.
The United Nations shall provide the forensic expert(s) with a Special Service Agreement and undertakes to pay all expenses in connection with the services of the forensic experts, including honorariums and subsistence allowances and other benefits to which he or she is entitled, and travel costs to and from any site of investigation.

Forensic science experts arrived this week in the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of a 15-strong United Nations team investigating the alleged massacre of 350 civilians.

The human rights office is updating its list of forensic experts to feature a broader range of specialists, in the light of recent investigations of atrocities in Afghanistan.

Under the draft law, the determination of whether expert testimony is admissible and scientifically reliable is not based on the proffered evidence or testimony but turns on whether the expert medical witness is a "sworn medical expert." This process is in contrast to court procedure in the United States.
Article 69 states that the party shall have the right to have his or her expert included in the forensic medical examination of the body and that all costs related to such inclusion shall be the responsibility of the party.
Hand in hand with the ability and right of a party to challenge expert testimony and provide his or her own independent testimony is the ability of judges to use their discretion in determining the weight and credibility that is to be afforded to conflicting evidence.

The names of the recommended experts and institutions are contained in annex I.
