Glen Falls Metro Area - Federal Reserve Bank of New York
This metro area has roughly 125,000 residents, based on the 2000 Census, and the population is nearly evenly split between Warren and Washington counties.
The metro area lags the state and the nation in both income and educational attainment-median household income was somewhat under $40,000 in 1999, and only 19 percent of adults held college degrees (see table below).
After lagging the U.S. in job growth during the late 1990s, the Glens Falls area kept pace with the nation in 2001 and 2002 and was a top performer in the region in 2003 and 2004, averaging roughly 3 percent.

Chesapeake Bay Foundation - Save the Bay: Growth, Metrorail and the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area
Sprawl is the single biggest long-term threat to the health of the Chesapeake Bay because new development far from existing communities, shopping, and jobs destroys the farms, fields, forests and wetlands that filter water and provide habitat for wildlife.
Air pollution from the increase in traffic is a significant source of nitrogen pollution in the watershed and contributes to fish kills, destruction of crab and oyster habitat, and other problems.
While such densities are not appropriate or desirable for all stations, the capacity of Metro-accessible lands should be fully considered when planning for the region's growth.

The Washington Metro, or simply Metro, is the rapid transit system of Washington, D.C., and neighboring suburban communities in Maryland and Virginia, both inside and outside the Capital Beltway.
However, the deepest stations in the system are not in Washington, but at the northeastern end of the Red Line, with Wheaton having the longest escalator in the western hemisphere at 70 meters long, and Forest Glen being even deeper than that.
Under normal conditions, only Metro employees and Transit Police are legally permitted to use these doors although on the Metro all end doors are unlocked [1].
