'Clinton Hill' is a neighborhood in South Central, Newark, New Jersey.
Newark's highest concentration of vacant land and empty buildings can be found in the Lower Clinton Hill neighborhood.
His home, thought to be called Hawthorn Hill, was located in this area (then a part of East Orange) with green spaces and punctuated by churches such as St. Andrews Episcopal and First Presbyterian on Clinton St. to serve the Wasp (white anglo-saxon protestant) population that inhabited the new neighborhood.
