Whitepot in Central Queens was part of the original Middleburg settlement that the English in 1664 renamed New Towne, later Newtown.
Forest Hills Gardens was described in a sales brochure as ``the most comprehensive accomplishment in garden city or model town planning yet undertaken in America.'' The sales pitch went on to ``confute any opinion that it has been developed with certain charitable or philanthropic objects in view.
