 80s Song Lyrics
Nobody on the road Nobody on the beach I feel it in the air The summer's out of reach Empty lake, empty streets The sun goes down alone I'm drivin' by your house Though I know you're not at home
I can see you- Your brown skin shinin' in the sun You got that hair slicked back and those Wayfarers on, baby I can tell you my love for you will still be strong After the boys of summer have gone
I can see you- Your brown skin shinin' in the sun You got that top pulled down and that radio on, baby And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong After the boys of summer have gone

 The Albums - Sunflower
Sunflower was probably the most underrated, and least promoted Beach Boys album of all time, which is why it only reached #151, the lowest position any Beach Boys album ever reached besides the M.I.U.album of 1978 which also reached #151.
The song "Forever", sung by Dennis on this album and by John Stamos on the "Summer In Paradise" album of 1992 stands out as one of the classics.
By the same token, Sunflower contained some of the most beautiful music The Beach Boys ever recorded.

 Amazon.com: Rubber Soul: Music
The Beach Boys, James Brown, Dylan, the Stones and Smokey Robinson all blazed a trail in '65, but ultimately the Fab Four grabbed the rock-n-roll mantle and ran with it.
Because the Beatles alone are a whole world, and in the Beatles world Rubber Soul is like Odessey And Oracle (the Zombies) or Forever Changes (Love) in the music world: overlooked.
Also from nowhere land is "Nowhere Man" with its beautiful and fresh harmonies; although this track is known as the first Beatles song that doesn't talk about romantic love, the song is showing us a lonely man who love is all he needs and is waiting for it.

 Disco Demolition - Steve Dahl
Since then, he has produced groundbreaking programs such as ABC’s story of the Beach Boys, “Summer Dreams,” and the shows “It's Too Early,” “New Year's Steve and Garry” and the CBS late-night show, “The Midnight Hour.” He also created and executive produced the PBS music series “Soundstage” in 2003.
Most recently, Dahl co-wrote a song that appeared on his friend and former Beach Boy Brian Wilson's album, Imagination.
Dahl and his band The Dahlfins continue to play to sold-out concert venues, entertaining live audiences with his original songs.

 Misirlou
The Beach Boys re-recorded a Dale-inspired Misirlou for the 1963 album "Surfin' USA", forever making Misirlou part of American pop culture.
Anna Vissi performed the song (in Greek) in the 2004 Olympics closing ceremony, and recorded it for the accompanying album.
Dale was of partially Lebanese background, and often credited Armenian music as the inspiration for his guitar style, and perhaps for this reason the tune has often been mistakenly described as a Lebanese or Armenian folk song.

 Aaron Carter on Broadway
Aaron has also released another single, "Surfin' USA," a remake of the famous Beach Boys song.
He also worked with such musical talents as The Moffatts, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Gil Ofarim and others to make a single called "Let the Music Heal Your Soul." The proceeds of this single benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation, an organization that treats disabled and autistic children through the use of music therapy.
After the concert, an Edel Record Company executive offered him a record contract on the spot, and in the fall of 1997, he released his first single, "Crush On You." He followed that with "Crazy Little Party Girl," "I'm Gonna Miss You Forever," and "Shake It," all of which became very popular overseas.

The Zombies: Odessey and Oracle: Pitchfork Review
While Odessey and Oracle is definitely one of the great rediscovered works of the psychedelic era-- an under-appreciated record of beauty and foresight-- albums like Love's Forever Changes, Van Dyke Parks' Song Cycle, and even the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, expanded minds with wider sonic palettes and more daring song structures.
Odessey and Oracle stands as the band's fully realized statement of intent, the parting shot from one of the few originals in the devolving tail-end of the 1960s.
While it wasn't exactly "freakout" music aimed at squares, Odyssey and Oracle is still notable for its experimental bend.

Odessey and Oracle stands as the band's fully realized statement of intent, the parting shot from one of the few originals in the devolving tail-end of the 1960s.
Odessey's single, "Time of the Season", is the album's only stereotypically summer-of-love moment; for the most part, darker tones and the dramatic third person feel are ahead of the present-tense late 60s.

Beach Boys - An American Band / Brian Wilson - I Just Wasn't Made for These Times
Brian mined a bit further back in his past, the aborted "Sweet Insanity" album from 1990 contributes three songs-- "Make a Wish", "Rainbow Eyes", and "Don't Let Her Know She's an Angel".
Carl's vocal is impassioned, Brian's harmonies sound great, and the song itself (one of four originally from the legendary and oft-bootlegged mid-90s Brian Wilson/Andy Paley sessions) is superb.

The music has flashes of the British Invasion, the Beach Boys and even jazzy Brazilian Bossa Nova (think “Girl from Ipanema”).
Knowing there is music this good floating around in the independent world pushes me “this close” to swearing off of major label releases forever and going on an all out search for other undiscovered gems.
The band has deservedly begun to garner some attention on music television with their video “Heartbeat.” It is a beautifully simplistic song.

Perfect Sound Forever December 2004 no.1
If you'd told me ten years ago that I'd be busy vibe-ing to the sounds of the Stooges, Beach Boys and Frank Sinatra, I would've laughed in your face.
Bar the odd song here and there, Iggy's solo career has generally been an embarrassment, though much like John Lydon, he remains a hilarious middle-aged anomaly I can admire from a distance.
It's almost frighteningly irrelevant to even consider what I'm about to embark on, but nevertheless I feel it must be said: the Stooges were perhaps the greatest Rock ‘n' Roll group of all time.

 Amazon.ca: Mass Romantic: Music
The songs, written by Zumpano's Carl Newman and Destroyer's Dan Bejar, contain enigmatic, clever lyrics ("Hope grows greener than grass stains") and lift styles from bands like Devo, The Cars, the Go-Go's, The Beatles (of course), Elvis Costello and The Attractions, and the Beach Boys; at one point you even hear Supertramp's influence.
Every single song on Mass Romantic possesses hooks that stay in your head forever.
Put aside for the moment that "Mass Romantic", "The Slow Descent into Alcoholism" and, most importantly, "Letter From an Occupant" are three of the greatest pop songs ever written, with hooks so catchy you'll be singing them all day (week?month?year?) long.

EastWesterly Review: The Anacreontics of Popular American Music
The popularity of these poems and their themes of wine and women made Anacreon a sort of cult hero, placing him as the honoree of the British drinking song "To Anacreon in Heaven," which served as the melody for Francis Scott Key's "The Star-Spangled Banner," clearly and forever linking Anacreon's name with the United States.
A tour of the United States, much like Anacreon's follower's tour through the Mediterranean, is the sole topic of the Beach Boys' 1965 hit "California Girls" (covered in 1985 by David Lee Roth with great success, likely bolstered by the bikini model-saturated music video).
The pursuit of sex and slight drunkenness was not the invention of Anacreon, but it was his mastery of the subject matter that has launched centuries of its celebration in poetry.
