 CD Times - Soundtrack
Yet, it's possible that they were never meant to, being far more suited to this being a soundtrack to a film than an individual album, much as Air's soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides pales alongside both Moon Safari and 10,000Hz Legend despite containing, in Playground Love, the band's best song.
For her follow-up to The Virgin Suicides, Sofia Coppola turned to a story of a relationship that blooms between Americans who feel lost, not only in Japan, where the film is set, but also in their own marriages.
With Sofia Coppola's use of Air to provide the soundtrack, themselves blending electronica with the sweet pop of Burt Bacharach, The Virgin Suicides shimmered with a sound that will be forever remembered from a couple of decades before, much like the ghosts of the five Lisbon girls.

"Big in Japan" was the first song I heard from Alphaville, and the music had a big synth swoop that caught me early on.
But it was the shockingly-good first track, "A Victory of Love" that cemented Alphaville's pedigree as a pioneer band, charting new waters in near-revolutionary fashion.
While "Forever Young" doesn't quite touch the heights of Alphaville's watershed album "Afternoons in Utopia", it is still a very solid debut which deserves to be recognized as a New Wave classic.

 X Japan...
However Yoshiki was still not speaking to Toshi, and actually had a plan to beat him up right on the stage, but after Toshi sang Forever Love--which was their final number, I believe--Toshi went over to Yoshiki, and Yoshiki looked at him.
Yoshiki then told Taiji that X-Japan--there was a lawsuit between X and an American band with the same name--didn't need two leaders, and Taiji was kicked out of the band.
Yoshiki was heartbroken to hear about that, and did not want to continue with the band without him, since Yoshiki had written each song for Toshi's voice.
