Forklift truck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A forklift truck, a lift truck or a forklift is a powered industrial truck used to lift and transport materials, normally by means of steel forks inserted under the load.
Forklifts are rated for loads at a specified maximum weight and a specified forward center of gravity.
Another critical characteristic of the forklift is its instability; the forklift and load must be considered a unit, with a continually varying center of gravity with every movement of the load.

 Forklift Certifications
The OSHA forklift certification requirement for forklift training and safety for operators is probably one of the most misunderstood employee safety laws.
Seat belts in forklift trucks are a component part of an operator restraint system that is designed to reduce the incidence and severity of injuries to the operator in the event of a tip over accident.
Failure to wear the seat belt that is provided in the forklift increases the risk of injury to the operator in the event of such an accident.

The forklift operator was moving along the aisle next to the racks when he hit something with the tire next to the shelf and the forklift stopped suddenly.

NIOSH Alert-Preventing Injuries and Deaths of Workers Who Operate or Work Near Forklifts
The overhead guard of the forklift is generally the part that crushes the operator's head or torso after he or she falls or jumps outside of the operator's compartment.
Because many forklifts are not equipped with a restraint system and operator compliance is less than 100% on forklifts equipped with a restraint system, operators of sit-down type forklifts should be instructed not to jump from the operator's compartment but to stay inside by leaning in the opposite direction of the overturn.
Restrict the use of forklifts near time clocks, break rooms, cafeterias, and main exits, particularly when the flow of workers on foot is at a peak (such as at the end of a shift or during breaks).

Next, simulations of the forklift striking a wall were generated for a range of speeds and angles of impact.
Further, it was my opinion that while the manufacturer was not obligated to design a forklift that would accommodate someone of AB's size and strength, it was necessary, if safety was a genuine concern, to alert smaller users that they were at risk of losing control of the forklift, especially when going down ramps.
