In order for you to prove associativity of your suggested group law you have to use the relation y^2=x^3+ax+b which means that x and y may not be assumed to be algebraically independent.
In other words the group manifold you describe is 1-dimensional and if you want to make it equivalent to a rational group law it also should be 1-dimensional.
However, making it equivalent to a rational group law would in particular mean that the function field k(x)[y]/(y^2-x^3-ax-b) would be isomorphic to k(t) and this is known to be false.

Because the business component is defined broadly by state laws and because "persons" can include individuals, groups of individuals, companies, and corporations, partnerships are highly adaptable in form and vary in complexity.
State property law also impacts partnerships by defining ownership in a partnership and determining how the death of a partner changes the partnershipstructure.
Federal law plays a minimal role in partnership law except in the context of a diversity action, or in instances where a partnership agreement contains an effective choice-of-law provision designating the application of federal law.

Lincoln considered a career in law after he lost the 1832 election for the Illinois General Assembly, but, according to his 1860 campaign autobiography, decided against a legal career because he thought he needed more education to succeed as a lawyer.
The Stuart and Lincoln law office was in an upstairs room along Hoffman’s Row, a group of buildings on Fifth Street in Springfield, one block north of the public square.
Lincoln and Herndon also maintained a law library in their office, and in one Illinois Supreme Court case, Lincoln loaned one of the law books from his office to the court for use in its opinion.

The story of this country, the coal mine, and a group of Navajo families is a morality play of the American Southwest - one rooted, as is often the case in this part of the country, in a pitched battle over how to use the land.
It adopted a law that allows remaining Navajo families to stay on the land as tenants for 75 years - but the Dineh say it has only intensified the relocation pressure.
The law also sanctions relocation of families who don't sign the leases - and creates a $25 million incentive to Hopis if they get 85 percent of the remaining 125 families (some 1,500 people) to sign.

, 1983, 95--125]; the generalized necklace algebra is associated with an arbitrary formal group law F(X,Y) over a torsion free ring A. The map from the ring of Witt vectors associated with F(X,Y) to the necklace algebra is constructed in terms of certain generalizations of the necklace polynomials.
Nevertheless, we show that for an important family of formal group laws over the integers, namely F(X,Y)=(X+Y-(1+q)XY)/(1-qXY) with integer q, the corresponding necklace algebra can be defined over the integers.
Our results imply the existence of nice ring structures on the group of Witt vectors and the group of curves associated with the formal group law parametrized by q.
