		In certain formation evaluation tools, it is important to minimize the distance between the borehole wall and both the source (e.g., nuclear) and detector assemblies in the tool.
		For example, three extending arms may be utilized for formation porosity evaluation (housing a neutron source and a pair of neutron detectors), formation density evaluation (a gamma-ray source and a pair of gamma-ray detectors) and formation resistivity measurements (a pair of electrodes).
		Formation evaluation is executed with the arm in a closed position and the data therefrom is sent to the surface in real time using known MWD techniques.
