L31.  UV Absorption Spectrum of Formyl Radical, HCO
Formyl radicals were generated by pulsed photolysis of acetaldehyde at 308 nm (XeCl excimer laser).
The initial concentrations of formyl radicals were calculated based on the measured energy density of the laser radiation (Molectron EM400), the absorbed energy and the quantum yield of formyl radicals (0.95).
This determination is based on the measured cross-sections of formyl radical and on the equal yields of methyl and formyl radicals in the photolysis of acetaldehyde.

 CHISSO CORPORATION - Cellufine-Amino & Formyl
Cellufine Formyl allows a broad range of coupling conditions to be used to maximize both coupling efficiency and yield of active protein.
The reaction rate of Cellufine Formyl is rapid enough to be practical, yet slow enough to be extremely gentle to most proteins.
Cellufine Formyl BSA was prepared by washing 5g (wet) of media with 0.1M phosphate (pH 7.1), adding 5ml of 4mg/ml BSA and stirring for 12 hours at 25 °C. After washing with buffer, the media was suspended in 5ml of buffer containing 0.4M ethanola-mine.

Aldehyde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This functional group, which consists of a carbon atom which is bonded to a hydrogen atom and double-bonded to an oxygen atom (chemical formula -CHO), is called the aldehyde group.
A reaction that introduces an aldehyde group is known as a formylation reaction.
Various formylation reactions, such as the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, can be used to introduce an aldehyde group.

Soda Feed Ingredients :: FORMYL   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Formyl is manufactured using our patented microencapsulated fluid bed protection process.
This enables a blend of calcium formate and citric acid to be presented in powder form which makes it safer to handle in the feed and premix mill and offers a significant improvement over the direct liquid addition of formic acid and other aggressive acids to feeds.
Formyl acts by releasing formic acid predominately in the small intestine therefore making it very good at killing pathogens in the gut of all monogastrics such as E. Coli, Salmonella spp and Clostridia spp, when an infection occurs.

The Structural Isomers DCO#tex2html_wrap_inline3104# and COD#tex2html_wrap_inline3106#
The two different geometrical configurations are expected to be linear with the hydrogen atom being either bound to the carbon (formyl ion) or the oxygen (iso-formyl ion) [13].
Using Coulomb explosion imaging at the storage ring TSR the structure of the formyl ion was investigated as a function of time after its production (in possibly both isomeric states) in the tandem accelerator.
The experimentally derived distributions of the bond angle in R-space for the formyl and iso-formyl ions are shown in Fig.

Heme - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Heme A differs from heme B in that a methyl side chain at ring position 8 is oxidized into a formyl group, and one of the vinyl side chains, at ring position 2, has been replaced by an isoprenoid chain.
Both the formyl group and the isoprenoid side chain are thought to play important roles in conservation of the energy of oxygen reduction by cytochrome c oxidase.
Heme S is related to heme B by the having a formyl group at position 2 in place of the 2-vinyl group.

 Sloan-Kettering - Projects: H2-M3 Restricted T cell Responses
For example, many inflammatory cells express a chemotactic receptor called FPR (for formyl peptide receptor) that binds short, hydrophobic peptides that contain N-formyl methionine.
As mentioned previously, bacterial formyl peptides are bound by FPR, inducing chemotaxis of inflammatory cells to sites of bacterial infection.
We are currently investigating Listeria monocytogenes infection in mice lacking FPR, with the goal of determining whether this mechanism of inducing inflammation in response to formyl peptides impacts upon CD8 T cell responses.

N-Formylmethionine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is a modified form of methionine in which a formyl group has been added to methionine's amino group.
The addition of the formyl group to methionine is catalyzed by the enzyme transformylase.
Transformylase will catalyze the addition of the formyl group to methionine only if methionine has been loaded onto tRNA.fMet and NOT onto tRNA.Met.
