Forrest Custer Smithson (September 26, 1884 - November 24, 1962) was an American athlete, winner of 110 m hurdles at the 1908 Summer Olympics.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Forrest Smithson, a student of theology from Yale University, was an AAU champion in 1907 and 1909 in 120 yd hurdles.
Forrest Smithson died in Contra Costa County, California, aged 78.

Born in Fitzgerald, Ga., on Feb. 6, 1914, Forrest "Spec" Towns became over the next several decades the greatest track and field legend in the history of the University of Georgia and the State of Georgia.
Towns became head track and field coach at the University of Georgia in 1938 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1975 except during his military service with the U.S. Army from 1942-46 where he served in Africa and Europe.
