Fort Campbell is a large post of the United States Army located approximately ten miles northwest of downtown Clarksville, Tennessee and ten miles south of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
It is officially styled as "Fort Campbell, Kentucky", because the post headquarters, the vast majority of the base housing, and its main post office are in Kentucky; however, the majority of the reservation is actually in Tennessee.
Fort Campbell is the single largest factor in the Clarksville area's economy.

The Fort Campbell baby boom is so overwhelming that its hospital has contracted to send about 40 women to hospitals in Clarksville, Tenn., and Hopkinsville, Ky., when they deliver in November.
Fort Campbell officials said they think their boom resulted from a combination of younger families and the extended Iraqi deployment.

FORT CAMPBELL -- The commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division returned from Iraq on Saturday and uncased the division's colors, symbolically ending the unit's year at war.
Sixty soldiers from Fort Campbell have been killed in the war -- 58 of them from the 101st, which has had more deaths in Iraq than any other U.S. military unit.
The remainder of the division's 20,000-plus soldiers are expected to arrive by early March at Fort Campbell, on the Tennessee-Kentucky line 50 miles north of Nashville.

Within a year, the reservation designated as Camp Campbell was developed to accommodate one armored division and various support troops or a total of 23,000 men.
Early in the summer of 1942, the post's initial cadre, one officer and 19 enlisted men, arrived from Fort Knox, Ky. From that time until the end of World War II, Camp Campbell was the training ground for the 12th, 14th and 20th Armored divisions, Headquarters IV Armored Corps and the 26th Infantry Division.
After the war escalated, the rest of the division joined the "Always First Brigade." The 6th Infantry Division was reactivated at Fort Campbell on Nov. 24, 1966, and inactivated July 25, 1968.

Initially, copies have been donated to chaplains at Fort Stewart, Ga., and Fort Campbell, which are in the midst of baby booms fueled by the return of soldiers from duty in Iraq.
