		Fort Gratiot Township is a charter township of St.
		Fort Gratiot is on the western shore of Lake Huron.
		In the township the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older.

		This and Fort St. Joseph on the western shore, at the mouth of the river of that name, are the oldest forts in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and antedate the establishment of Ft. Pontchartrain at Detroit by La Motte Cadillac, fifteen years.
		The churches of Fort Gratiot are the Methodist, Episcopal and United Presbyterian Churches in the village.
