		According to Bob Hill the president of the Fort Lewis College Foundation, the funds outlined in the Tom Danielson fund are important for the exposure of FLC and are a great investment, not only in the future of the school but in the future of cycling.
		FLC president spoke in high regard of the donations saying that he was very grateful to accept the funds on behalf of FLC.

		Fort Lewis was deactivated and turned over to the Secretary of the Interior for an Indian School.
		Most of the buildings inherited from the military fort were in very poor condition and presented a huge fire danger because stoves and oil lamps were used for heat and light.
