	Fort Polk
		Fort Polk is unique in all the Army because it is the only Combat Training Center (CTC) that also has the mission to train and deploy combat and combat support units.
		Fort Polk is located in west-central Louisiana, about 45 miles from Alexandria, 70 miles from Lake Charles, 120 miles from Shreveport, 150 miles from Baton Rouge, 250 from New Orleans, and 180 from Houston.
		Fort Polk's reputation began in 1962 with its conversion to an infantry training center.

	Fort Polk
		FORT POLK -- Proposed biological training at Fort Polk is "safe for the people and safe for Louisiana," Army officials and scientists said Tuesday.
		The spores would be released in three areas at Fort Polk from backpacks that resemble leaf blowers during times when wind speed and direction would assure it would not reach areas off of the base.
		Fort Polk has never trained using the spore, officials said, but Bacillus subtilis has been used at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah and at Fort McClellan, Ala.

		CDT in a training area at Fort Polk, which is about 30 miles from the Texas border in western central Louisiana.
		Fort Polk is home to the Joint Readiness Training Center, where Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine units train together in simulated battle situations.

		In support of the recovery efforts at this major training post, the Southwest Region Installation Management Agency sent six senior public works experts to Fort Polk to perform a full assessment of the damage and develop cost estimates for necessary repairs to the facilities.
		The team arrived at Fort Polk on Oct. 3 and immediately began assessing the structural damage.
