The latest battle involves building officials and a financially struggling woman, Cheri Davis, who is trying to move with her daughter and grandson into an old house in need of repairs.
City officials said they warned Davis this summer that many costly improvements were needed and the condemnation process was under way, but Davis was determined to buy the house.
The city's ordinances allow condemnation when damages are estimated at more than half the home's value, and this "gives them a very broad stick as far as condemning houses, and they use it," he said.

Hall was a most renowned 16th century physician-herbalist, born in 1575, he came up to Queens in 1589, took a B.A. in 1593, and his M.A. in 1597.
Since Hall was only 11 years the junior of his celebrated father-in-law, married his most favored daughter, and lived immediately next door as neighbors, with all the positive allusions to doctors and herbs throughout Shakespeare’s plays, it is reasonable to assume that the two had a close friendship.
John Hall is shown as a resident and freeman of Newport in 1655, although this does not show the actual date he became a freeman of the colony.

This is the City Hall for Statesville, NC.
City Hall was designed in 1860 by the firm of A. Jordan and James Anderson, but the Civil War forced postponement of construction until 1868.
An imposing structure with a mansard roof, City Hall was built of cream-colored Amherst sandstone, and the clock in the 200-foot tower was said to be the largest in the nation.

The east half behind the front section was the turbine hall and at one time housed four turbine generators.
West of the turbine hall is the tallest half (91') of the building with the five brightly colored stacks, which in times past contained up to five 60' tall boilers.
In 1934, this 15 megawatt turbine generator produced power for the city of Fort Wayne until it was shut down on February 28, 1975.
