The magazine Fortune was founded by Time Magazine co-founder Henry Luce in 1930 at the outset of the Great Depression.
In its early years Fortune employed a number of eminent artists as contributors, including writers Archibald MacLeish (1892–1982) and James Agee (1909–1955) as well as photographer Walker Evans (1903–1975).
For many years Fortune was published as a monthly, but as of September 2005, it is published biweekly.

 Alternative Perspectives on Registrar Market Share: Fortune 1000, the Forbes International 500, and the Yahoo Directory
In this research, I document the registrars used by each of the Fortune 1000 companies, by each of the Forbes International 500 companies, and by each listing in Yahoo; I subsequently compare these registration patterns with the registrars used by the entire domain name registration market.
Fortune 1000 domain registrations show an apparent preference for Verisign; Verisign's share of registrations is more than twice as high among the Fortune 1000 than it is among registrations generally (80.8% versus 39.1%).
Of course, Fortune 1000 registrations are but a small portion of domains and of registrar profits.

In recent research, I have documented the registrars used by the primary domains of each of the Fortune 1000 companies and have compared their chosen registrars with the registrars used by a broader cross-section of the market.
Five companies had no web sites of record, as reported in the Fortune 1000 listings, while the Fortune listings reported that a few companies share the domains of their primary web sites.
Fortune 1000 registrations are but a small portion of domains and of registrar profits.

The combination of stringent new federal regulations on document retention and privacy, and the financial burden of new litigation-discovery rules is sending the United States’ Fortune 1000 companies scrambling to update their records management programs, according to a study released by Iron Mountain.
The survey indicates that Fortune 1000 companies are ‘waking up to the importance of records management’, with more than 60 percent having updated their records-management policies within the past year.
And nearly half of the Fortune 1000 companies surveyed (44 percent) planning on spending more on records management next year than they did this past year (21 percent substantially more).

In May 2005, Port80 Software launched the industry's first survey of application servers and scripting platforms used on the main corporate Web sites of the Fortune 1000 (based on the 2005 Fortune 1000 list of companies), and the results may surprise you.
This survey analyzes HTTP header signatures to determine the presence of an application server or scripting technology, and since some servers are configured with more than one backend (for instance, classic ASP and ASP.NET) and/or have no application server present, the percentages above do not add up to 100%.
