The rebel group is allegedly based in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC Congo), founded by renegade Ugandan army officers, and estimated (in 2004) to consist of around 2,000 rebels.
The leader of the opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Kizza Besigye, was arrested on November 14, 2005, accused of being the "political leader of the PRA", sparking demonstrations and violent riots.
A Uganda army spokesman said on November 16, 2005 that the army was deployed to help the police with the riots, and that security had been increased at all borders because "We know PRA exists and are likely to attack".

Democrats are also doing well in terms of money, both at the individual candidate level and in terms of the DCCC closing the cash on hand gap with the NRCC.
The reasons are probably similar to those that held down Democratic margins among Hispanics (see last week’s analysis of the minority vote): national security and moral concerns that moved many of these women toward the GOP more than economic, health care and education concerns moved them toward the Democrats.

THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has blamed the collapse of the face-to-face peace talks between the Government and the LRA rebels on arrogance and unrealistic demands from the Government.
FDC described as impossible President Yoweri Museveni's demand that all rebels assemble in one place before the talks.
He said FDC recognises the achievements of past governments and while it shares in on gains made under the Movement, it takes responsibility of the omissions.

The FDC claimed that Besigye had won the 2001 presidential election against Museveni and also claimed irregularities and fraud by the government.
Museveni is well on his way to getting those changes made and clearly he doesn’t want his work to be in vein.

Ugandan opposition leader of the Forum for Democratic Change Kizza Besigye(R) confers with his lawyer, Sam Njuba, on the first day of his treason trial outside the High Court in Kampala.
Besigye's case has fuelled concerns about Museveni's commitment to democracy, and foreign donors recently suspended tens of millions of dollars in direct aid to his government, citing the prosecution and the repeal of presidential term limits that would have barred Museveni from seeking re-election.
In addition to his case, Besigye's wife, Winnie Byanyima, and another member of the FDC have been charged with libel after Museveni complained that they had falsely accused him of bribing judges handling her husband's trial.

Human Rights Watch is concerned that authorities will use the ban to obstruct campaign rallies by the Forum for Democratic Change, during Uganda’s first multi-party elections in 25 years.
In December, Human Rights Watch interviewed supporters of the Forum for Democratic Change from Kampala and the Kabarole district in western Uganda.
An FDC activist from the Kabarole district told Human Rights Watch that police prevented him from organizing a protest against Besigye’s arrest.
