The party seeks to advance (A political advocate of socialism) socialist policies for Wales as an alternative to what it perceives as a Labour Party which has moved away from socialism.

Hockey Wales - Celtic Cup 2005 v Scotland
Wales opened strongly putting the French under tremendous pressure and this lively opening was met with strong French defence and ultimately the first of five yellow cards for France.
Wales upped their game and less than ten minutes later Graham Egan did likewise and at half time the teams were level.
Wales started the second as they did the first and the resultant short corner gave Paul Edwards the opportunity to score his first goal of the weekend.

 Forward Wales in crisis
Forward Wales heads for oblivion Forward Wales continues to implode after many of its leading activists including its sole councillor Dave Bithell, the National Secretary and International Organiser resigned.
One of the party's founder members told SEReN: "Forward Wales was born from an alliance of former Labourites and socialists who were united in wanting to challenge Labour's unhealthy grip on Welsh politics.
The minute they chose to use the word "Forward" I had forebodings - down here in the south the name has echoes of the " Forward Movement " - a kind of pull yourself up by your own bootstraps evangelical nonconforming christianity born in south east Wales a century ago.

Articles - National Assembly for Wales   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The National Assembly for Wales (or NAW) (Welsh: Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru) is a devolved assembly (not a full legislature) with power to make regulations in Wales, and also is responsible for most UK government departments in Wales.
This is largely because Wales has had the same legal system as England since 1536, when it was annexed by England (and therefore became part of England).
In its 1997 White Paper "A Voice for Wales" the Labour Government argued the Assembly would be more democratically accountable than the Welsh Office, which was represented in the British Cabinet by a Secretary of State who often did not even represent a Welsh constituency at Westminster.

 Four left votes in Wales
Wales has one of the highest thresholds for electing an MEP - there are now just 4 MEPs and, with 10 candidates, it's hard to see the left seizing that last seat.
The left in Wales can be categorised as including Plaid Cymru, the Greens, Respect and the new party formed by Assembly Member John Marek, Forward Wales.
Talk of an electoral pact between the Greens and Forward Wales foundered, no doubt partly because the Greens have bad memories of a previous electoral pact with Plaid in Ceredigion 10 years ago.
