 Articles - Fox Broadcasting Company
When Fox was launched on October 9, 1986, it was broadcast to 96 stations reaching more than 80 percent of the nation's households.
Fox management, having seen the critical role that sports programming (soccer programming in particular) had played in the growth of satellite service BSkyB, believed that sports, and specifically professional football, would be the engine that would make Fox a major network the quickest.
FOX sports has also received cirticism from sports fans of bias towards teams in certain conferences especially during the Super Bowl and the World Series, usually the NFC in football (due to the fact that they own the rights to NFC games) and the AL in baseball.

Television channel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sometimes, it is confused with the term television network, which (when properly utilized) describes a group of geographically distributed television stations that share affiliation/ownership and some or all of their programming with one another.
In countries such as the United States, television stations usually just have one transmitter (or, more recently, two transmitters if the station broadcasts a digital signal in addition to its standard analog signal); most of these stations should be independent or affiliated to a television network such as ABC, CBS, Fox or NBC.
Individual television stations are usually granted licenses by a government agency to use a particular section of the radio spectrum (a channel) through which they send their signals.

Right-wing Sinclair Broadcast Group, a company that owns local TV stations across the country, is ordering its local stations to preempt normal broadcasting a couple days before the election to air an anti-Kerry film made by a former 'reporter' for the Washington Times.
And there is a certain richness to Fox News discussing any other news organization's 'bias' when they're just a few days away from and have yet to explain why their chief political correspondent published a denigrating and fabricated story about the candidate he is supposed to be covering.
Basically it's a 90 minute Swift-Boat ad which Sinclair is ordering stations seen in a quarter of the nation's households to show a week before the election.
