  Deep Groove Encyclopedia - Foxy
Foxy didn't invent the "whoop whoop" cry that became a disco trademark, but they helped make it a national phenomenon with "Get Off," a smoker of a tune that utilized the phrase as one of its hooks.
The song also represented a stylistic shift from the Latin disco vibe of their first album (their percussionist was the son of Tito Puente) to a funkier spirit.
Foxy was inspired to compose the song after visiting clubs and observing the disco crowd punctuate particularly memorable moves and songs with "whoop whoop." "Get Off" was the cornerstone of their second album and eventually hit the top 10.
