  Fra Diamante - LoveToKnow 1911
FRA DIAMANTE, Italian fresco painter, was born at Prato about 1400.
He was the principal assistant of Fra Filippo in the grand frescoes which may still be seen at the east end of the cathedral of Prato.
The accusation of wrong-doing, however, would depend upon the share of the work executed by Fra Diamante, and the terms of his agreement with Fra Filippo.

 Painter/Artist: Fra Fillippo Lippi (c.1406-69)
Fra Filippo was born in Florence, the son of a butcher, and in 1421 took his vows in the Carmelite order.
Fra Filippo was convicted of forgery, was sued for breach of contract, was notoriously tardy at finishing commissions, and, perhaps his most publicized escapade, abducted from a convent of which he was chaplain a nun who ultimately bore him two children, one being the painter Filippino Lippi.
Fra Filippo was buried in Spoleto at the request of local authorities who, according to Vasari, pointed out the great number of illustrious men buried in Florence and the few in Spoleto.

 Biography
Unlike the Dominican Fra Angelico, however, Lippi was a reluctant friar and had a scandalous love affair with a nun, Lucrezia Buti, who bore his son Filippino and a daughter Alessandra.
Fra Filippo began to fresco the enormous choir of the Cathedral of Prato in 1452 (after Fra Angelico had turned down the assignment).
Like Fra Angelico, Fra Filippo Lippi was taken with landscape, and he was successful in this genre in the backgrounds of many pictures; but his world is predominantly fantasy, accentuated by an unnaturalistic palette.
