Frameshift mutation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A frameshift mutation (also called a frameshift or a framing error) is a genetic mutation that inserts or deletes a number of nucleotides that is not evenly divisible by three from a DNA sequence.
Frameshift mutations frequently result in severe genetic diseases.
A frameshift mutation is responsible for the disabling of the CCR5 HIV receptor and some types of familial hypercholesterolemia (Lewis, 2005, p.

Frameshift mutations in microsatellites are usually due to DNA polymerase slippage and may be characterized by the type of the repeat.
In one embodiment of the invention the fusion peptides may be constructed for enhanced detection or purification of the frameshift polypeptides, or of complexes of the frameshift polypeptides with the respective immunological entities according to the present invention.
Preferred frameshift polypeptides according to the present invention occur in at least 25%, more preferred frameshift polypeptides in at least 30% and most preferred frameshift polypeptides in at least 33% of the cases of the particular condition to be treated by the method according to the present invention.

Synthesis of a novel hepatitis C virus protein by ribosomal frameshift
Besides ribosomal frameshift, it is also possible that the production of the F protein was caused by the deletion of one nucleotide or the insertion of two nucleotides at or near codon 11 during RNA synthesis by the T7 RNA polymerase.
This 1−2% efficiency of ribosomal frameshift is not unusual as it is similar to that which was reported previously for a number of genes (Grentzmann et al., 1998; Ivanov et al., 2000).
Although ribosomal frameshift for gene expression has been demonstrated for RNA viruses of several different families including retroviruses (Jacks and Varmus, 1985), coronaviruses (Brierley et al., 1989) and astroviruses (Marczinke et al., 1994), HCV is the first example that uses this mechanism to express a gene that is totally embedded in another coding sequence.

Robert J. Sawyer: Frameshift   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Frameshift is not the first novel in which Sawyer has done a good job of characterization.
The main characters in Frameshift are Pierre Tardival, a French Canadian postdoctorate working in Berkeley who may have Huntington's Disease and Molly Bond, a psychologist "gifted" with the ability to read the minds of people in close proximity to her.
Frameshift proves that Sawyer's writing and ambition continue to grow and keep pace with each other.

Welcome to Mindawn - Frameshift - Unweaving the Rainbow
Frameshift is an exciting new Progressive Rock project written and produced by Henning Pauly of Chain for James LaBrie, vocalist of the legendary progmetal band Dream Theater.
Shortly before he started working on Frameshift he wrote a film score and suddenly it clicked.
He did not want to limit the music on this album to what is possible with a rock band lineup, but to what is possible with the tools a film composer has at his disposal.

A series of murders are traced to local neo-Nazis, someone is conducting an illegal experiment with Neanderthal DNA, and Department of Justice Agent Avi Meyer is hunting Ivan Marchenko, the concentration camp guard known as Ivan the Terrible, The Butcher of Treblinka.
What makes Frameshift remarkable is the sympathetic and realistic portrayal of a progressively disabled hero, together with the interweaving into the story of the hunt for a real Nazi war criminal.
He offers complex and imaginative scientific speculation, a thoughtful examination of the ethical implications of genetic testing, a slow-burning but dramatic thriller with a blockbuster climax, and a touching love story with a genuinely moving ending.

Like the first Frameshift cd this is not a concept album per se,with no storyline, but a series of songs revolving around the same topic. The topic here is human nature and violence.
After several delays, the album was finally released, and for many Frameshift fans, the question waiting to be answered was "Can Sabastian Bach match James JaBrie's performance on Unweaving the Rainbow?" Sadly, he doesn't by any stretch of the imagination, but I never expected him to anyway.
Frameshift is a first team band and do not waste time with boring nonsense melodies to fill the albums - like it has been happening to many good prog bands lastly (especially Dream Theater).
