Louisiana Story - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was written by Frances H. Flaherty and Robert J. Flaherty, and also directed by Robert J. Flaherty.
However, none of the members of the Cajun family (boy, father and mother) were actually related, and the film does not in any aspect deal with Cajun culture or the realilty of the hard lives of the Cajun people, nor with the mechanics of drilling for oil.
In the early 1950s, it was reissued by an exploitation film outfit with a new title, Cajun, on the bottom half of a double bill with another film called Watusi.

 Man of Aran
Flaherty ("Nanook of the North") was one of those men, considered the father of the documentary but was more appropriately the first cinema poet and one of the first independent filmmakers, scrounging from hand to mouth to wrest funding for his next film project.
Flaherty spent two years with the poverty stricken Aran Islanders, off the coast of west Ireland, an unforgiving landscape of jutting rocky crags slammed mercilessly by an angry ocean.
Flaherty in his expansive imagery and idyllic sentimentality sought a vision for the way life as it should be led.

A Re-examination of the Early Career of Robert J. Flaherty - Jay Ruby
Flaherty was not the innocent that his public was led to believe but someone with knowledge and with forethought who used the narrative form in a very deliberate and intentional way.
Frances Flaherty's diary during the period 1914-1916 clearly indicates how important the films, the photographs, and the writings about Robert's work had become to her and how much she assumed that they would make this type of work their life's ambition.
Flaherty was the object of awe and reverence among the Hollywood and New York commercial, intellectual, and artistic circles.

Flaherty surely wanted to avoid such non-ethnographic details, but the result is a distortion of reality.
Flaherty spent a great deal of time casting for faces, but his child actor's full experience in the bayou was that he knew how to handle a boat and fish.
Flaherty ignored or excluded extraneous details on his previous films, giving ammunition to some critics to accuse him of fakery and oversimplification.

 Robert Flaherty
Robert Flaherty is often proclaimed one of the founding fathers of documentary film.
A famous quote from Flaherty pertains to the instance when he was discussing the filming of the walrus hunt with the Eskimo community and explained to them that they may have to give up the kill if it interferes with the film.
(11) Flaherty's notion that the documentary narrative should "come out of the life of a people, not from the actions of individuals" as part of the daily routine of his native people (12) is utilised in the rendering of a life lived on the Bayou.

 Louisiana Story - Movie Review
Robert Flaherty was one of the great documentary directors of the 20th century.
Flaherty used non-professional actors to create documentary-type situations, and because of this the actors all have a stiff acting style.
Seen in the context of the rest of the movie it’s obvious that the relationship between the alligator and the boy is not unlike the relationship between the land and the oil derrick: Although, no doubt, Standard Oil didn’t see it that way.

However, according to Frances, the CPC is the only party that resorts to such underhanded tactics.
From what I can see, they have no problem exposing their hand-out-please, more-social-welfare agenda for all to see, overtly accusing the CPC of destroying it all even though the election hasn’t even occured and nowhere on any CPC platform does it say they will end these programs.
