Francesco Andreini appeared on the artistic scenario in Cesena, at a moment, in which there was a definite lack of innovative painters, therefore he met with the lasting success which can be testified by the setting up of a studio, which was active throughout the 18th century and beyond.
As far as his artistic formation is concerned, the painter was influenced by Cignani and the Bolognese culture, which he came into contact with during a stay in Bologna during 1725, where he probably attended the Accademia Clementina.
Andreini got the inspirations for his works from Baroque protagonists like Caravaggio and Reni.

The Glorious Ones - Review - Theater - New York Times
Pantalone (David Patrick Kelly) is a two-bit tailor lured by the promise of women; Francesco Andreini (Jeremy Webb) a street hustler who will challenge Flaminio for control of the troupe’s future.
Francesco’s discovery of a gentle-born new leading lady, Isabella (the silvery-voiced Erin Davie), with a gift for play-making, will point the way toward innovations that Flaminio, stuck firmly in stock mode, cannot abide.
The only real events of note are a trip to perform before the French king, who is not amused, and the growing conflict between Flaminio and Francesco, which gives rise to an aptly stagy, melodramatic ending.

The form came into being around 1550 and reached its height of artistic and commercial success in Italy around 1650.
During this time, the great stars of Italian comedy performed, including Flaminio Scala, Francesco Andreini and his wife Isabella, and Silvio Fiorillo.
The deaths of those performers and an economic downturn in Italy signaled the decline in the popularity of the commedia dell'arte, which nevertheless continued to be an important form of theater until 1780.
