William Bradford recorded his list of passengers that came over in the Mayflower: "Francis Cooke and his son John, but his wife and other children came afterwards".

Francis Cooke was a woolcomber from England who had arrived in Leiden around 1603, earlier than the Separatist migration to the area.
Francis came on the Mayflower with his son John, and Hester arrived aboard the Anne in 1623 along with Jane and Jacob.
Although not being part of the Separatist group from England, Francis and Hester had an affinity to the Separatist movement along with other members of their Leiden Walloon Church.

Francis Cooke was also appointed as one of the "Surveyors of the Heighwayes" for Plymouth in 1645 (PCR 2:84).

Francis Jarvis Cooke, Texas revolutionary fighter and merchant, was born on July 13, 1816, in Beaufort, Carteret County, North Carolina, the son of Henry M. and Frances Barry (Buxton) Cooke.
Francis Cooke continued to serve for a short time after the battle and served as one of Santa Anna's guards.
Cooke died on November 11, 1903, and was buried in Salem Cemetery, near Howth.
