Francis Maude was MP for North Warwickshire from 1983 to 1992, serving as a junior minister in a variety of posts until he lost his seat at the 1992 general election to Labour candidate Mike O'Brien.
The Right Honourable Francis Anthony Aylmer Maude (born July 4, 1953) is a British politician, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Horsham, Chairman of the Conservative Party and a member of the Privy Council.
Maude worked in banking as Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Co Ltd while outside parliament, but returned to politics, and was elected in the 1997 general election to the different and safer seat of Horsham.

He was born in Gibraltar into a military family, his father was Sir Frederick Francis Maude - a general who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1855 during the Crimean War.
They arrived to catch the end of the British failure at the Siege of Kut and Maude was promoted to Lieutenant-General and replaced George Gorringe as commander of the newly dubbed Tigris Corps (3rd Army Corps) in July 1916.
Usually referred to as Stanley Maude, he is most famous for his efforts in Mesopotamia during World War I.

Francis Maude MP, the Former Shadow Foreign Secretary, wrote an article in The Spectator ("A Phoenix Not a Dodo" Spectator, 23 March) about Conservative Party policies and philosophy.
Maude had the unmitigated gall to say the Tory Party had been the dominant force in BRITISH politics when our Parliament is bypassed by European politics thanks to the treaties signed by Conservative Governments.
Maude wrote that the Party had to become a "genuinely national party" when Maude and his friends virtually destroyed the constitution of the British nation.

After a period of reorganization and establishing communications Lieutenant General Sir Stanley Maude started advance against the Turkish forces in the middle of December 1916 which was to rout the Turkish forces and achieve the capture of Baghdad in March 1917.
In mid July 1916 Maude was promoted to the temporary rank of Lieutenant-General and assumed command of the 3rd Army Corps, also known as the Tigris Corps.
