Also, on Monkman's latest album of 1998 the lead vocals are from the two of them (by the way, their voices haven't changed for all those years: a kind of severe vocal from Maestro himself and a light, dramatic Julia's voice).
As it is the case with the most progressive performers at the time, Monkman did add the modern electric sound.

Sky (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The departure of Francis Monkman led to his replacement by Steve Gray, who took the band to a more jazz influenced area.
Sky was a London-based progressive rock band, formed in 1978 when classical guitarist John Williams decided to team up with Herbie Flowers, Francis Monkman, Tristan Fry and Kevin Peek.
After a protracted search for a record company, they eventually signed with the small European label Ariola Records.

Francis appeared on albums as a keyboardist for artists such as Kate Bush (on her 'Lionheart' album), David Essex (on his 'Silver Dream Racer' soundtrack album) and Chris (ouch!) De Burgh (on his 'Crusader' album) among many others.
Francis also played keyboards with Cockney Rebel for their 1974 Reading festival appearance as well as recording with other famous outfits including The (yikes!) Alan Parsons Project and The Shadows.
After such giddy heights Monkman was a man in serious demand, and he's to be found plying his trade on movie scores like Raiders of the Lost Arc and The Empire Strikes Back.

Kenneth Mackay Monkman read for an honours degree in chemistry at the University of Leeds, but was not entirely engrossed by the course, during which he wrote the words for It's the Rhythm, a popular song to music by Bill Williamson, a pianist with Jack Hylton.
In a life of delicious and purposeful obsession, Monkman not only saved the house, but built a specialist library of world importance and, from the Shandean muddle of his study, added significantly to knowledge about Sterne.

801 Live - Reviews of the Manzanera/Eno concert
A cirrus sweep of keyboards from Francis Monkman and Eno clears the way for Bill MacCormick's exuberant bass, Manzanera and Lloyd Watson's snickering guitars and Simon Phillips' splattered drums and hi-hat.
The musicians are Manzanera and Lloyd Watson (guitars), Brian Eno (synthesizer, tapes, guitar, and chief voice), Francis Monkman (electric piano and clavinet), Bill MacCormick (bass guitar), and Simon Phillips (drums).
And on the evidence of this recording, made at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, last September, the band - Eno (vocals/synthesiser etc.), Manzanera (guitar), Bill MacCormick (bass/vocals), Francis Monkman (keyboards), Simon Phillips (drums) and Lloyd Watson (slide guitar/vocals) - would appear to be somewhat more interesting than Roxy itself at this point in time.

The real star on this track is Francis himself, where he plays various keyboards (plus tubular bells and gong), and he does some cool solos on synthesizer and guitar.

Long Good Friday, The - Music from the Movies
Stylistically, planted firmly in the 'late 70's', Monkman's instrument palette seems quite small and is predominantly electronic, but a small amount of orchestral support is just enough to emphasise film music rather than imitating rock accompaniment.
On the surface his score seems deceptively simple and considering Monkman was no film scorer then or now, he managed to provide an effectively edgy dramatic score.
From the frenetic Overture to the emotive latter tracks; Realisation and The Fury Monkman's music makes for a rewarding listen.

For the first time in the history of rock Monkman really managed to make this prominent genre a titbit for all Prog lovers.
This multi-instrumentalist, before he nailed down his success as a composer and musician in a famous and well-known band Sky, had already managed to gain recognition from the Prog-lovers of the whole world (and corresponding writing folks) within such rather serious Progressive bands as Curved Air & 801.
There is really much blues in the album, but sometimes it cannot even be easily identified within the depth of arrangements.

An able player, Jones stepped easily into Tarney’s shoes and, although it has since been revealed that Monkman was less than happy during his brief stint, his keyboard playing added much to the live presentation of such classics as Atlantis, Wonderful Land and Guitar Tango.
